Reputation: | Most definitely. Living in a remote area the internet is our connection to the outside world aside from an occasional trip to the library and monthly run to the bank and grocery store. And since we don't get cable (our tv doesn't work without cable, never could figure out how to make it work even with antennae), it's our source for news and shopping for anything besides groceries, communicating with friends, etc. We also run an online business and I'm the webmaster for all 3 of our websites, so I pretty much live at the computer and online. 1. How much time do you spend on the internet each day? I don't even dare count the hours. 2. Do you stick to reading just a couple of blogs and one or two forums or do you have dozens you read? I didn't used to read blogs, but since joining this forum and starting my own blog, I'm read a little here and there. I do visit this forum quite a lot. 3. Have you ever had to put a restriction on the amount of time you spend on the internet? When we started our first online business, we tried taking a holiday after working for a straight 7 days, and made a rule that I wouldn't get on the computer and my sister wouldn't work on designing (we design dog clothes and costumes). The holiday lasted about 30 minutes.

Reputation: | Previously, I was online about 4-5 hours per day, but most of that was just checking the news, email, reading celebrity gossip, etc. Now, I'm online a lot more, but how I spend that time is different. 1 hour is here in the forums, another 1-2 hours on my blog, and only about 2 hours on news/celebrity gossip, etc. The rest I spend paying bills, checking email, and looking for a job. I think the change has really been noticeable, since my husband griped at me yesterday that all he ever sees me doing is "sitting on the computer with about 20 windows open" and that it's been a week since he asked me to clean out the garage. Haha. Google reader: I just started using this service. I think I've easily got 25 sources on there already - I've subscribed to fashion-related services and blogs to keep abreast of the latest fashion news and generate blog entries.

| Senior Member | I'm online almost all of my waking hours. However, during business hours I"m working on websites, so I mostly am using the web for testing, and researching tutorials etc. When i'm not at work I read blogs, do crosswords, chat on instant messenger, and occasionally use social networking type sites. I have a lot of RSS feeds which I read using the Firefox plugin Sage. |
