I have never actually gotten a speeding ticket (I would have to go about 90 mph to look out of place on the speedway/highway) but I have heard that there are DMV points and there are insurance company points. Our goal in life is to avoid insurance points, and attorneys can help prevent the insurance company points as part of their negotiations.

Will, Planes, Trains, and Automobiles (your link) is an all-time favorite of mine but it was removed due to a copyright violation (sigh).

Virginia - $1,350. Additional $3,000 if you have a DUI conviction.
Oh, wow. $1,350 is insanity. The DUI conviction amount is super-high, and rightfully so. It'd be nice if it was $3,000 for a DUI in every state.

Yikes...I'll never drive in Virginia. I only got one speeding ticket in my life...in one of the states listed..Oregon...2 years ago and it was for $170. Not a proud day to be stopped by the police

I've set my cruise control to about 5 miles over the speed limit when I'm on highways. Once, I was driving through Virginia on my way to South Carolina and the Troopers were there in full force.

P.S. I also heard that radar detectors are illegal in Virginia. Is this true?
