Reputation: | ..after sitting on the sidelines since October 2008, I decided to get back into equities this week after seeing some bullish signals. Specifically, I'm long Canada's Toronto TSX index again. I am not in US equities at this time. I'm primarily a chartist. My reasons for doing it: - recent technical break past resistance - technical double bottom - technical recent head and shoulders Just wondering if the recent rise in equities has motivated any trading / investment decisions in others? Reputation: | I too have also kept my positions. I'm heavily invested in index funds and target date funds that I will not need the funds for awhile. I've tried timing the market before and have gotten burned, so this time I've been taking the advantage to accumulate shares with the expectation of a recovery in the long haul.

Reputation: | I never got out of the stock market. My personal portfolio has recovered and is at a small profit now. The mutual fund in my Roth IRA has recovered some but has a ways to go before it gets back to even. I'm not sure why I'm paying them to manage my money.

Reputation: | I hadn't really gotten into the stock market when the crash happened. But I'm certainly I got in as much as I did when I did. Got some great bargains. |

Reputation: | I am a buy and hold asset allocator and did not sell my stock positions. However the last year taught me a valuable lesson, that my risk tolerance isn't as high as I thought it was. I'm using new contributions to shift to a more conservative allocation. |

Reputation: | I have about 30 years until retirement, and in my case it is worthwhile to stay heavily invested in stocks. The last year has been a wild ride, but I'm not too worried. What goes down must go up! Or at least, it always has historically. |

Reputation: | Most of my stock market holdings are in mutual funds in IRA and 401k contributions. I've just been making those contributions regularly every month. I also keep a bit too much cash for my age, but that has shielded me from the huge drops. I guess I'm not a very diligent investor, but I think everyone should just invest in what they are comfortable with.

Reputation: | By dumb luck, I was out of the market when it went south (transferring accounts). I am still not back in. I am going to start getting back in gradually over the summer, using ETF's and basic asset allocation. I have always been 100% in stocks, and I doubt I will ever do that again! |

Reputation: | Well! That is the perfect time to enter into the stock market. Although the returns will not as much high as they were in the past but economy is going to BOOM from RECESSION and it will be on its best in the mid of 2010. So, people this is the time to invest and wait for the while which will lead your to your best interest. |
