We've banked with ING for several months. We do not use their savings account as our primary savings because you can earn more somewhere else. We do however use their Electric Orange checking account. We earn 2.25% (it was 3% when we initially signed up) on our checking right now. That's more than our credit union was giving us. So far we've been extremely pleased with it. It's great to earn a few extra bucks on a checking account.

Well, I was about to recommend Emigrant Direct, but they are 3.6%, down from 4.25% just last week. My credit union just started promoting a high-interest checking account. It is 5.25%.

At least in Europe it works fine, no fees for anything and a nice rate for your saving. For me, it has become my only bank!

I was thinking about opening an account at ING for just this reason - the goal oriented sub-accounts. From your post it sounds like it is pretty easy to set up the sub-accounts then, huh?

Very easy. In fact, ING has just made it even simpler. From the main screen once you've logged in, they have added a link that says "Open another account." Doesn't get much easier!

Here are my opinions on this:

I've had ING for since December 2004 and am very happy with it. After you open up your standard account, opening Sub Accounts take about three clicks with no additional verification. You can also give the accounts their own nicknames for easy sorting. Another thing I like about it is that it shows you how much interest you are earning per day, which is a great motivator.

If anyone needs a referral link for the $25 sign up bonus, feel free to PM me with your email address and I will send one along.

I opened up an ING account this year, and I love it. Very easy, user-friendly, and the interest rate is better than most. I also have some referrals left, if anybody needs one. Just let me know!
