Default Wow!

Thanks for posting this Frugal NYC.

I hadn't realized that the ads were already starting. I suppose it makes sense though, since the economy has been so bad. I'm sure stores want to do everything in their power to draw in as many customers as possible this season.

But I have to wonder if all their ad efforts will be worth it. So many people are currently unemployed and living under extra tight budgets that they just may not be able to "shop til they drop" this season. But then again, if the discounts are deep enough, retailers just may pull off a successful Black Friday this year.

I was pretty surprised to see this too. Every year it seems to be getting earlier and earlier when the black friday ads start to come out.

Here in Canada we don't have a black Friday - wish we did - so I chose to start discounting in one of my own retail stores last weekend to see if it would increase traffic. It did, but less so than last year when I did not do discounting!

Make sure you do your homework. Some of the deals are not really deals. I found some items that are already at that "doorbuster" price before friday. If you find something in an ad, check online to see what they are selling it at before tomorrow.
