Reputation: | I don't have much of a credit history. I am looking to change that by getting a credit card. Can anyone suggest a good company to apply at? |

You might have to start with a secured account, depending on how little history you have and your household income. I recently wrote a very basic article titled Credit Cards Really Aren't So Bad on my new blog with a section about secured accounts. It's all very rudimentary but maybe it'll be helpful to you in some way. When my sister and I were trying to build our credit history, we went into our bank and spoke to someone who handled credit cards and loans and she advised and helped us with getting our first credit cards. So that might be a good place to start.

| Member | This is very surprising to me. I would have thought that just about everyone had credit card offers coming to them in droves! Seems like these opportunities are hard to miss! Anyway, without knowing the first thing about the OP's situation, if s/he will pay the balance off in full each month and won't use it for cash advances, I'd definitely look for a card with no annual fee that has some kind of reward -- cash back, airline miles, etc. APRs don't matter at that point, since no interest will be paid.
