Default Creditors want your rebate check

I have noticed this since the rebate checks were announced and even more so as they are now getting set to deliver. Creditors want it.

I noticed a couple of our creditors suddenly became more noisy about faster repayment with threats of negative action if we didn't ramp up payments. Now that the checks are coming I got a flood of "pay us now" type letters from creditors that were totally happy with minimal repayment before. These were things like medical bills that only have verbal repayments vs. something like a loan. Anyone else seeing this.

I can see how creditors of all kinds or the debt industry would be salivating at trying to get their piece of said rebate checks. Anyone else notice this kind of activity change?

Yep - a piece of zombie debt from 1990 I don't recognize at all (but I don't have records from then) someone keeps trying to call and collect on but refuses to send something in writing for. They even said "if you are getting a rebate check we could settle this". Um, prove it first?

You couldn't expect the wolves to not do their best to get as much out of everybody as they possibly can???

I notice the same thing every year around tax time, as I've never owed and my college loans love to try and snag both halves of the return (and have managed to twice now before we straightened it out). Drives me nuts and makes me wonder if they have any clue what that does to people's willingness to contemplate repayment nicely.
