Reputation: | I confess, I've bought lottery tickets before, and probably will in the future. I'm especially fond of the Bingo style scratchies...they're like a whole afternoon of thrills for $2. I've also been known to buy a Powerball or Mega Millions when they are really big. And I've found that lottery tickets are a cheap and easy gift for the holidays as they are something most people wouldn't spend their own money on. |

Reputation: | I very, very RARELY buy the scratch-offs, but I will buy one Powerball per drawing when it gets up over $100 million. I've received scratch-offs as gifts. The most I ever won on one was $100 a few years back. Haven't struck it rich with Powerball yet. |

Reputation: | I never buy lottery tickets, I think it is too much of a gamble. I do however buy Premium Bonds. This is system run in UK by the government. You buy bonds and they are put into a draw each month. Prizes range from £10 to £1m so it can be really wort while. You get no interest on the money invested but you can draw it out at anytime. The odds are probably similar to the lottery but less risky.

Reputation: | I buy about $15 in Powerball tickets throughout the year. I agree with the earlier comments regarding not being able to win if you never buy a ticket, and the entertainment value of buying a ticket. The way I see it, it is a healthier vice than candy bars and sodas, and the potential payoff is much larger.

Reputation: | Well, nobody won the Powerball jackpot on Wednesday night, so I just bought one Powerball Quick Pick today. Here's hoping! |

Reputation: | I won $7 on last night's Powerball drawing! Not the jackpot, but at least it was something! |
