Reputation: | Hi guys, While browsing this forum I saw some posts from those who emerge from debt only to slip back in that black hole again. If you're one of these individuals, I'd love to hear your story. If you can leave a reply here or contact information, it would be greatly appreciated. |

Reputation: | This has never happened to me in a big way, so my story probably isn't worth telling. But I do find that when I'm almost out of debt, as I am now, the temptation to get reckless and carefree about money sets in. It must be a bit like dieting. You lose 10 pounds, then to celebrate you go out and have pizza, beer and ice cream. Then you get so mad at yourself for indulging that you stuff down half a chocolate cake to comfort yourself. Then you figure what the hell, I've failed, I'm a loser, and you dine on pasta and sauces for the next week. Then finally you say okay, time to get serious again. And it's back to salads without dressing. Debt can be a little like that. If you haven't broken the habit of using credit for whatever you need, you're going to fall back on old spending ways. Been there ... |

Reputation: | The last few months I've seen myself have a harder and harder time paying bills CC, and saving the same amount. It just felt like I was cutting it closer and closer, till I finally had to dip into my emergency account, and then when I put that amount back into emergency account, I had to dip in again(but this time twice as much). I figure it's because of the timing of the CC bill. I don't realise how big it's getting and how far behind so I'm gradually spending a little bit more than I should. So when surprises come, I'm forced to cut savings for that month which's annoying. I've cracked down on it a lot recently, but I am taking 2 small trips this month which should ruin the gains I've made |
