Hi.
What is the quickest way to raise a credit score. I am currently making payments and have been for the past 10 months. Any advise would be appreciated.

Theoretically, that question defeats the purpose of a "credit score", which is supposed to be a reflection of your historical credit "worthiness" over a long period of time.

A simple "answer" to that question is probably "pay every bill on time" and resolve all negative hits on your credit reports asap.

If you want to review the factors affecting your FICO score, I posted them in the thread "FICO score" that you will see in the thread list for this section.

I would not advise anyone to solicit the "help" of any "credit repair services promising to increase your "Credit Score".
There are "several" types of "credit scores" out there. The one that is important is FICO. Make sure any help you seek is focused on FICO, not anything else. This is a question many fail to ask the "helpers" out there!!

Just like used auto buying...Some have the "CARFACTS" report and some have a "CARfox"...there is a difference! lol

hey mick,

If you really want to disect the FICO frog logic, here is Suze Orman's "FICO" supported site.

FYI, as in everything else in life, there is a lot of good "information" to be gathered there (as well as "FICO forums"). But keep in mind that the overall objective is to sell you something. In this case, a choice of "FICO" pkgs that will "help" you get financially healthy, and stay that way.

I am always leery of any advice given by someone with a vested interest in the outcome. But this is a good site. I choose not to "join" anything, based solely on the contents of their "privacy policy". (as usual).

Check it out if you like...it is a "safe" site, no tricks, shell games or virus threats, lol

Always make sure you pay everything like your payments and all on time and your credit will get better. Also order your credit reports every month and make sure you have nothing negative on it, like inquiries, late payments etc. Otherwise they will have a negative impact on your credit score.

mickbali123, Another important factor in your credit score, is keeping the balances on your credit cards to below 50% of your credit card limit, with under 30% even better.

Zero balance is better from a personal finance standpoint, but FICO has their own rules/scoring mechanism.
