Default How to get debt collectors of your back once and for all...

Hi guys and girls, I just finished composing a free guide on how to legally get debt collectors to stop hassling you by using the Fair Debt Collection Practises Act. Just wondering if anyone had any other useful information/tips they think are worth adding?

For example, does/has anyone recorded their conversations with debt collectors before? What are are the legal implications of doing so?

Thanks!

I know that the laws on recording conversations vary by state, and I don't know if it depends on what state the recorder is in, or the other party, or both. I'd be pretty careful about that!

Great post - I'm going to link to it (maybe not today, but I will... )

Many states require you to announce you are recording the conversation. many debt collectors will then hang up, and just call back continuously to make the phone ring hoping you forget to turn the tape on at some point...

...I have one thats been calling my mom for the past couple months and told her she was lying to him when she said I no longer live there (I haven't for three years). I suggested she blow a whistle and paid for caller ID this month. They only call once a week now and I imagine they will stop shortly.
