I have two - a VISA that gives me cash back toward my mortgage principal quarterly and one from my favorite department store because it entitles me to $40 in 4) $10 quarterly coupons with no minimum purchase so it well pays its interest if I run a rolling balance.

I have 2 credit cards, both with rewards points. The one I use almost exclusively for every purchase I make is not accepted everywhere so I have my "backup" card. My recurring charges for satellite, internet, and insurance are automatically billed to my card. I pay off both card balances monthly so I incur no interest charges. I'm not even sure what the interest rates are.

right now, 3 but I will get rid of one soon. I just need one for my personal account and another for the common account with my wife. Nothing more. The other is for the account I must close, too expensive.

I only had one credit card: a Gulf Mastercard. Recently, I got a second credit card, an Exxon-Mobil Mastercard, because I'm switching from one gas reward to another. When the transition is complete, I'll close the first credit card account and go back to having just one credit card.

I have two personal credit cards, two store credit cards (for store discounts), a debit/atm card that is rarely used and my corporate credit card for business travel. I carry no balances on any of my cards....Well, except a credit on my corporate cards. Must have sent a small reimbursement to the card instead of cash on my last expense report. I'll fix that on my next trip.

Personally, for me, since my family all lives out of state, it's important for me to be able to be able to get on a plane on very short (less than 24 hours) notice, rent a car and subsist at my destination for at least a week without having to worry about money issues. And that may require a reasonable amount of credit. I haven't had to do that yet, but it's nice to know that I can, should I need to.

Default Credit Cards

I have 4 credit cards — All of them have zero balance except one. I have 0% interest for one year on that card and will pay balance in full before the year is up, avoiding finance charges.

I have more than I need, mostly because I have opened store cards to get the coupons and the initial discount. I'm probably at under 10 (I would have to count - I don't carry the store cards unless I'm on my way to the mall). I only regularly use one non-store card though, and have another one for emergencies.

I sometimes wonder if I have too many cards, but I figure that I'm not carrying any debt on them, my debt to credit ratio is pretty good, so I'm not worried.
