Zero. I had two when I was in my 20's and for me they were just way more of a pain than they were a useful tool.

We do try to keep an emergency fund for those unexpected things like appliances dying or car repairs, job loss etc. That plan served us well when we had an unexpected layoff of four months. We incurred no debt and made it through. But replenishing our emergency fund has been tough with expenses constantly going up.

If my options are a savings account, a safe or a credit card to have some emergency money I would opt for the safe, then savings account and credit card would be last. That might sound odd but so many banks find creative ways to ding your savings account with fees. I would reconsider using one if the bank in question was not one that would be incurring fees. A credit card is an eroding form of money, too many fees and negative interest. You may not get any interest sticking your money in a safe or your mattress but your also not losing it to fees that in some situations can be far more than you might gain in interest income.

Hey,

http://www.wisebread.com/forums/pers...-have-686.html

I dunno if this is like in archives or something, but hasn't been that long since this question was last asked .

No worries though, it is interesting to know, but the previous post has a poll which you might want to check out.

My situation hasn't changed since the last thread. Still only 1 CC, and thinking about getting another one if a good deal comes into my field of vision.

I have 2 credit cards, a Gulf Mastercard and an Exxon-Mobil Mastercard. I'm in the process of switching from the Gulf card to the Exxon card and once that's done, I'll cancel the Gulf card. The reason why I'm switching is there are many more Exxon gas stations than Gulf gas stations around here where I can claim the reward. It has been more trouble than it's worth finding Gulf gas stations to use the Gulf card reward.

1, kind of. the debit/credit card that came with my husband's bank account. We tossed out all the other credit cards long ago. They were nothing but trouble.

We have 89. We don't use them all though! Only 2 are in our wallet, the rest are for credit card arbitrage.

Good lord! 89??? I only have 1 credit card and 1 debit card. That's plenty enough for me to keep track of already.

I have a few credit cards. I have Bank of America, Chase (with rewards for Amazon.com), Best Buy, and American Express. But now I keep them all at home. I just have my debit card in my wallet.

Next time I apply for a credit card, I will go with a cash back rewards. But for now, I don't feel the need.

WOW! What is credit card arbitrage? Does that affect your credit score?

Anyhoo, I have 2. That's about all I can trust myself to handle at this time.
