Reputation: | I prefer ING. I agree their yields may be lower compared to other online banks but my experience over the past 3+ years has been flawless. Most of my ING Direct money is laddered in CDs averaging 5.10% at the moment. Their savings account is currently at 3.4%. Like I said, this may be lower compared to other online banks but ING has ABSOLUTELY NO FEES OR HIDDEN COSTS. You can't say this about other online banks. Be sure to read the fine print. |

Reputation: | I just opened up a savings account with Emigrant Direct this year and, so far, I really like it. I was torn between ING and ED but ED had the higher interest rate and compounded daily rather than monthly, so I thought I'd give them a try. |

Reputation: | I appreciate this thread. I've been thinking about using ING for a savings account and because of reading these posts I am going to take the leap. It is always nice to hear from peers what their experience is. |

Reputation: | Following in the steps of a lot of the high yield savings accounts, ING dropped their interest rate again this week to 3.1%. A little bit disappointing, but not unexpected.

Reputation: | I moved to the US from Australia and have ING accounts in both countries. Great online bank and never had any problem with them. Interest rates they offer are not the best, but are competitive. In Australia I am getting 7.5%, in the US about 3% - due to the prime interest rate differentials across the countires. Cheers, Andy. |

| Senior Member | I recently signed up for an ING Orange Savings account and like it pretty well so far. It's nice to see yourself earn a decent amount of interest each month. They're doing that promotion right now where you sign up for automatic deposits/transfers and you have a chance to win a lot of money. Now that's a good contest, encouraging consistent savings by attaching a possible prize to it! The one thing I dislike is the login process...I think it's great they're focused on security, but the numberpad thing they do just annoys me. |

Reputation: | Megan: I hear ya! Emigrant's rate recently went down to 3.3%, and I was a little bummed. However, it's still a better rate than any of my local brick and mortar banks offer on basic free savings accounts. |

Reputation: | KelR1, it's kind of funny how we forget that even 3% is better than the rates most brick and mortar banks give out! Until recently, I was satisfied with that rate, because I really didn't know better. So really, I shouldn't be too disappointed in a rate drop.

Reputation: | I just signed up for an ING Orange account, and I thought that they still had a "free $25 with sign-up" promotion. Was I supposed to put in a certain code or something, because I didn't get it. |
