Reputation: | I got one when I went to college (so age 18.5, I guess). I had a small, part-time job, and I never carried a balance on the card.

Reputation: | I got my first card after I got married and my husband added me to his account. I had scholarships in college that paid for most of my expenses (room, food, allowance at the snack bar, books), so I never really needed one before that. He already had the hang of using credit cards, so I never got into any bad habits. In retrospect, I'm really glad he taught me how to use credit wisely - otherwise, I might have racked up a mountain of debt and been in debt for the next ten years.

Reputation: | Got my first card at 24. Avoided them like the plague when I was younger cause had heard so many terrible things about them. Funny thing is when I finally got one, I was in a financial position where I 'needed' it the least, and only got it to help with credit history.... And save money on bank fees (3 accounts with bank = 4 bucks a month fee returned. |

Reputation: | No, in fact I have never had a credit card, and feel no need for one. I just use a debit card so I can spend what I have -no more. |

Reputation: | I was an authorized user on my mom's card at 17, and she encouraged me to get one in my own name once I turned 18. She also taught me that it should be paid off every month, and armed with that knowledge, I ended up with a $10k credit line by the time I graduated college (having never paid a cent in interest). I'm pretty sure that wasn't a student card. |

Reputation: | I did. Just one of the things I'd tell myself to 'undo' if I could go back and talk to my younger self. |
