Due to my income, I'm not getting a full rebate. I'll set aside some to donate to friend who will be going on the missions field this summer. I'll probably buy something small, a DVD or Lego set probably. The rest will go into savings.

I bought one about a 3 months ago and love it. I could not pass it up. Best Buy had a 42" (I believe the brand is Insignia) on sale for $675 -- my employer gave me a $100 Best Buy gift card for Christmas and my partner had a $75 Visa gift card. It ended up costing $500 plus tax.

We wrote an article about this on our site as well. Personally I feel like the best thing for me to do is to be sure my credit cards are all taken care of so that I dont have that negative high interest hitting my account. Have you guys seen the ditribution time frame for when these checks are coming out?

Right now I'm doing all I can to save towards buying a house. It'll go in that fund.

I'm over the AGI limit so I'm not getting a tax rebate at all. In response to that, I came up with a list of things I could cut from my yearly expenditure. I figured if there were a few painless ways to cut $600 in spending, I can use that $600 elsewhere and pretend it's a stimulus check.

I think I went a little overboard though. I'd originally planned to cut $600 in spending but my list came up to around $800!

rstlne - what an inspiring idea!

We're getting the full amount and are yet undecided. We will probably pay off some credit card debt, but other options include replacing some windows or adding it to our emergency fund. We're going to have a very interesting year financially so we're saving a bit more than usual.
