Default Virtual Personal Assistant

I would like to hear what people have to say about virtual assistants.

Positive or negative comments, anyone?

I haven't worked with one really (I first came across the idea in 4-hour workweek), but I don't think that one would help me that much. I don't really keep a complicated schedule, and many of the things that I need to take care of either require a physical presence, or are cheaper that way (example: it's typically cheaper for me to pick up stuff at the supermarket than use a service like PeaPod). Now, I'm not sure if this will change over the next 5 years or so, as I get busier and more and more services move online, but I don't think it would help me much right now.

Also, the idea of an assistant to help me with my work is appealing, but I'm sure there would be all sorts of confidentiality things I'd have to hammer out with my employer that would be a nightmare to deal with...

In line with the four hour workweek what ideas does anyone have that they use their VA to do and help save time?

I'd use the services of a VA only after I had my ducks in a row with managing my time and I was really sure that I could earn a whole lot more than what the VA would cost. One can also look at the value of "free time" but if one isn't making current expenses, all the free time in the world won't keep you from going bankrupt.

My business model uses virtual assistants to close sales for us. They are tremendous and invaluable. It is all about leveraging time. Your time is worth money so if you can find someone else to do a job for you where you can focus on other activities you are ahead of the game.
