Another thing that I haven't seen addressed is the tourism issue. Are tourists/non-citizens expected to pay the 30%? What will that do to our tourism industry to suddenly have the price of EVERYTHING go up? If given the choice, will a German fly to Hawaii with the extra taxes, or Fiji, without them?

Is there any way to make sure only US Citizens pay the tax, and if so, won't that just encourage more illegal immigants, who will get fake travel visas instead of fake driver's licenses?

Will corporations and non-profits get this prebate, as well, and how will that amount be figured?

It sounds like a bunch of rhetoric to get elected to me. And I don't think Warren Buffet is particularly concerned about the poor and marginalized, so I wouldn't take his tax policy advice, actually. Investment advice...that's a different matter!

Default True Capitalism

We always wave the capitalist banner, but constantly bail out those who make the most money while working and middle class folks get bashed. We should be taxed based on what we spend. It is the only way to truly equalize our tax system. I'm tired of all these tax shelters for those who should pull their own tax weight. Corporations that means you!

The Fair Tax idea would also probably hurt non-profits which rely on donations. I know that one of the reasons that I'm able to donate as much as I do (a not insignificant portion of my income) is the tax deductions that I receive for those donations. If the ability to deduct donations to charitable organizations, I would think that some individuals and many companies and corporations would scale back their donations as they couldn't write them off on their taxes.
