Arrow The White House Zillow Zestimate

The White House Zillow Zestimate

My home being by far my most valuable asset, I wondered what the White House might be worth.
After all, mortgage rates are the lowest they’ve ever been since Freddie Mac began its survey in 1971.
The US government might be able to refinance - and pay off some of their higher debt.
So I put 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue into Zillow.
The Zillow Zestimate: A not too shabby $308,058,000.

According to The Straits Times, a Singapore newspaper, this is $21 million dollars (7.2%) less than a year ago, but a significant improvement over the $165.87 million Zillow valuation in 2001 - when George W. Bush took office.
What do you get for $308 million?
Built in 1792, the White House has -
  • 55,000 square feet
  • 6 stories
  • 132 rooms
  • 16 bedrooms
  • 35 bathrooms.
Not to mention: location, location, location.
Should you decide to add this home to your estate, here’s your estimated monthly mortgage payment.
Of course, there of those of us who would say that the White House has already been bought:

Heh, that's kind of amusing.

I'd hate to see what the heating and cooling bills are on a building with that much space.

It would be great if President Obama could show the country the way forward by making the White House as green as possible. (I'm not talking about painting it green! ) Solar panels on the roof might be a good start. That might also increase the value.

That would be cool to see solar panels on the roof of the White House. I've always been annoyed that Reagan took down solar panels that used to up on the roof. The White House grounds does have some solar panels though, just on some of the smaller buildings.

Shows how little I know! I had no idea there ever were solar panels on the White House. Were they put there in the Carter administration? That would make sense.

I thought the White House would be worth a lot more considering its importance but Zillow is probably going by comparable sales in the area.

Agreed. I'm pretty sure the amount of security would bump up the price a ton. Zillow probably had a pretty tough time finding a comparable for a place with 16 bedrooms and 35 bathrooms hehe.

I wonder what the property taxes would be if it were civilian-owned.
