Reputation: | When we still had the emergency fund (which is now $0), we used it to fix the car that broke down. We also used it to pay for dental emergency. Money well spent and didn't have to use CCs. |

Reputation: | We went through almost our entire emergency fund last year when my husband lost his job. Now that it's built up a bit, we'll be using it to pay the taxes we owe (long story). Hopefully after we build it up again, it will stay put for a while. But at least we didn't have to turn to credit cards! |

Reputation: | I did dip into it to get my sister a birthday present. I had mistimed cheques and expenses, and it was an emergency heh. topped it off a few days later though hehe. |

Reputation: | I'm getting ready to use mine...I need to max out my IRA before the 15th, and it looks like my tax return won't be here in time. It is good to know that I have options, thanks to the emergency fund! |

Reputation: | A few years ago we had a huge windstorm and a tree fell on top of my house.....the cost to remove the tree was $1300--I didn't file a homeowner's claim, since my deductible is $1K, so I used my e-fund for that.

Reputation: | We've dipped into ours for the last 3 months. My husband is a self-employed contractor, so when the housing market went "crash", so did many of his work opportunities. Fortunately for us, he's found a few jobs for the month of April -- Whew! |

Reputation: | yep, some years ago my parents went bankrupcy with their company so I used mine to help them while getting a new job. In fact I knew it was going to happen so my emergency fund had a reason since the beginning. I even keep a second one that thanks God has been never needed. |

Reputation: | I had to dip into mine for the first time in years to pay my taxes. I sent in the quarterly, but it just wasn't enough. I also had a large dental bill that kind of threw me off, didn't have to dip into the account for that, but it didn't help with the tax situation. I will repay that money, but I was doing oh so well with not having to dip. |

| Member | Our AC went out during the middle of July one year. We didn't have an emergency fund at the time, but now because of that we do. |
