Reputation: | Hello, I am a long time reader of wisebread. I have been away for a while because I have been busy with school, work, family---life. I just wanted to encourage anyone and everyone to check out my etsy site at www.kav122.etsy.com I am helping my mom sell her handmade goods. Let me know if I can help you with anything. I have more things to post, I just haven't had time yet, so keep checking back. Thanks guys! |

Reputation: | Hi kav122, it is good to see you here -- I must have been busy too b/c I missed the post earlier. This may not be what you were looking for but I find it interesting to see that etsy is starting to take off and many of its artists with it. I saw this article in the New York Times about people making money but having to spend loads of time managing the business and making items (the good stuff definitely has to be extremely time intensive to make). |

Reputation: | thanks for the responses! Also, thanks for that article Julie! My mom has been a self-employed artist her whole life, so some of the things (working late, early on weekends, etc) she knows all about. I don't think that she will be doing 200,000 a year, simply because I am doing the website for her, and I don't have time to promote it like those people did. I'm sure that becoming wildly popular overnight would be a little stressful thanks again! |

| Senior Member | Love the embroidered pillowcovers. I've got a set from my grandmom thats very similar. Love the antique look. I've always worried Etsy would end up being the new cheap place to get handmade crafts. When I've tried to list stuff its been hit or miss, and I underprice any pet store with my toys. I'd work at making the thumbnail either a creative macro shot of the texture/weave or a full shot of the design/item. Maybe shorten the titles, I kept having to mouse over to see what they were other than embroidered/knit. |
