Get the Tiffany's Look for Less this Season
There’s an unknown kid in jewelry town. Her name is Nomination. For the holiday season, this Italian jewelry company is offering a set of earrings that looks VERY much like Paloma Picasso’s sugar stacks design carried by Tiffany’s. Not only is Nomination offering their set for almost four thousand dollars LESS than Tiffany’s, they’ve agreed to give away a free set to one lucky Wise Bread reader. Submit a comment by 9:00 a.m. December 10th with an email or web site to contact you at, and you’ll be entered to win a set of these gorgeous little beauties. Read on for product details, and of course to leave your contest entering comment . . . (**ADDED Dec 10th, 2007 - This drawing is over. Congratulations to Anne, our winner!)
The earrings pictured in this article are from Nomination, an Italian jewelry company that just launched their United States ecommerce site in November. To see how closely they compare to the Tiffany’s set, check out this link.
Notice the price tag? Four thousand, one hundred dollars.
As you can see from Nomination’s set of earrings featured here, this company is offering an equally glamorous holiday look to Tiffany’s for two hundred thirty-three buckaroos. That’s a savings of over thirty-eight hundred USD. And the pieces are remarkably similar. While the semi precious stones are slightly different, both are set in 18K gold. I chatted with the product rep, and amazingly enough, the designs were developed completely independently from each other. The color combination is so classy, I guess I'm not surprised multiple designers were inspired.
Judging from their overall site, there are some other very interesting pieces here. I’ll be working with the product rep to try out some samples and see how they measure up for look and durability. Look for a product review post in the fairly near future. For now though, I wanted you all to have a chance to snag the look for less (these sets are apparently going fast), and get in the door for a chance to win a pair. Good luck, Wise Bread readers!
Best of Wise Bread
I love that Nomination is making "knock-offs" that are still fairly high quality. Something definitely worth spending money on.
What a find! Thank you sharing. I love the Nomination bracelets and glad to see more of what they are offering.
Same colors, sort of -- faceting is different, shape is different, finish is different (iridescent on yellow stone, weird speckling on purple), and the gold setting looks cheap. The originals are much prettier. And for the ridiculous price of $300, the knockoffs are definitely not worth it.
Since you're "working with the product rep to try out some samples" I suspect you're not doing this as an objective review at all, but as a way to drum up business and benefit yourself.
As I pointed out in the article, I hadn't tried these pieces out at all, but wanted to get the word out about the similar look, and to give Wise Bread readers a chance at a cool freebie for the holidays. The review of the overall line, in order to be objective, will need to be after I spend some time reviewing various items, which I pointed out. I receive absolutely no financial compensation from these sales, and would appreciate not having my integrity attacked. If you don't like the look of the jewelry, you are welcome to not buy it. That's why links to images of both designs are included. So people can make their own choice.
I love this look for less! Not everyone has $4,100 to spend on a pair of great earrings, but $233 for an authentic amethyst set is really reasonable!
Great find, Myscha!
And to "Get Real" above, I doubt the company would be giving away a pair of the earrings if they weren't high quality. If I win the set I'll let you know how they turn out!
Those look like they should go very nice with an outfit I have in mind. My hubby will be thrilled to find out its NOT a new handbag at least lol!
Thanks for the site info, it's nice to find sites that offer pretty jewelery that I won't be paying a million bucks for.
OMG, I've been looking for years for a simple earring-- a plain endless hoop with a pierced round charm on it. Julia Roberts has worn the earrings in a couple of movies, so I know they're out there. The best scene for seeing them is the ferryboat scene in "My Best Friend's Wedding." I've looked everywhere-- including every page of Tiffany's earrings.
I have a man who's promised to buy them for me if I ever find them... and he's *not* my husband :). The only stipulation was that I had to *find* them, not have them custom made.
Anyway, this company has the closest yet, but I can't tell if they're too big. Julia's are very small hoops. And these charms are either a flower, moon, heart, or star, but they're very close and just might do after all this time. I'll have to stare at them a bit longer to decide if they're too big. Thanks for the link!
The ones you show are nice too. I gave amethysts to my bridesmaids and wear an amethyst ring all the time. The other stone looks like a peridot, my birthstone, but the listing doesn't say... so I guess not. Still very pretty!
hi did you ever find the earrings like julia roberts wore in my best friends wedding. i like yourself have been looking for two years the closest i.ve come to are earrings by "me and ro" i know julia wears earrings from them .in dying young she wore some peace sign ones. if you have found some i would love to know . but take a look at the me and ro range larraine
Oh my gosh - the earrings are gorgeous. Please choose me!!! I would be elated if I won. I just checked out the Nomination website and they have pretty jewelry, which would make great Christmas gifts!!
Yes, the proportions are a bit different, but the look is similar enough to give a reasonable approximation, in my opinion. And at nearly a 4 thousand dollar savings, I can be comfortable with the difference. Others may not think so, but it is after all, an individual decision. Thanks for commenting.
They have a lot of nicely designed pieces. The earrings are nice on their own, not as 'knock-offs'
I can't really see why the Tiffany brand is so expensive. The materials sure don't cost that much. Are the designs and the name really worth that much?
Those two colors are my two daughters' favorite colors. They would like to see mommy wearing those earrings.
It really doesn't make sense for me to think of them compared to the Tiffany set -- for me, spending $4k for a pair of earrings is indulgent folly (this has something to do with a 529 that needs funding). $238 is still a good bit, but as a special gift, these lovely pieces (which stand on their own) are worthwhile.
And I love amethysts. Please enter me into the contest. Thank you.
There've been a lot of articles lately about the nitty-gritty of economics, and about how to cut costs with standard household bills. Reading this article was something of a surprise, because I know very few people who *need* new earrings - but it's entirely valid. I've been trying to acknowledge and embrace my 'inner magpie' because I really do love pretty shiny things, and a better source for these lovely baubles fits in with Wise Bread quite nicely. :) Thank you for adding diversity to the other wonderful articles - part of a well-rounded whole.
You're very welcome. And thank you for your kind words. Being wise with your bread is all about choice after all, isn't it? Invest it, or spend it on something shiny. Once you've figured out how to save it / carve it out of your household budget, the choice is really an individual one. While not an amount I might spend on every single gift, for something special I thought the price was nice. Thanks again for posting.
Gorgeous earrings at a price that allows one to actually imagine they could be "yours". It matters not about the Tiffany similarities, although for some I suppose that would be a plus. They are just tres' cool and I am asking Santa to pretty please bring me a pair.
They're not my style, but I certainly appreciate the article nonetheless. I wonder how the snarky commenters seem to think you could make money off of a blog post like this?
I first saw Nomination when I was traveling in Europe, great to see it recommended on my favorite site! These would be great to give to my mother this year, I know she wears this purple a lot. Thanks Wisebread for the cool opportunity!
Glad to see so many people going for it. Good luck to all of you who have commented thus far, and for those of you just tuning in . . . why not go for it by leaving a comment?
I love amethyst and these earrings would look lovely in my ears! I want to win badly! THANKS for the chance.
Wow, those are so beautiful. My favorite color! And I am just beginning to wear jewelry again now that my toddlers understand the word NO and I can prevent the ripping of my earlobes! hee hee hee...
Thanks for the chance to win something so lovely!
I really like the look of *STARS Pendant Earrings in stainless steel and Cubic zirconia Baby Blue*, but, I'm a sucker for stars!
Suzy :D
Hello, everyone! Thanks for popping on with your comments and taking a shot at the earring prize. Congratulations to Anne (commenter #25), our lucky winner.
I've already been chatting with Nomination's product rep about the possibility of doing a few more give-away contests in the next year. Wouldn't that be FAB?????!!!!!!!!
Thanks again for participating everybody, and of course you are welcome to check out Nomination's site at any time.

Thanks for blogging about the deal, Angela!
Also, to the most recent few commenters, please note that as mentioned above in the contest comments and also in the updated first paragraph in the article, the actual contest is over, but the deal is still out there to take advantage of. Also, I am working with the powers that be to do a few more of these giveaway contests throughout the year. So keep tuning in . . .
