Help Make Wise Bread Better (and Win a Free Wise Bread Book)

UPDATE 5/11/09: We're now also giving away a Flip Camcorder (details) for filling out our reader survey!  Thanks!

I’m sure many of you remember Andrea’s recent Facebook ad debacle (the one where she was continually fed irrelevant, and sometimes insulting, ads while browsing.)  Here at Wise Bread, on the other hand, we strive to keep things fresh, applicable, and on-target for our readers.

That's why we've teamed up with Federate Media to develop partnerships, giveaways, and advertising that will be helpful and interesting to our readers.

Fill Out the Survey Win a Free Book!

We're giving away 15 free copies to randomly-selected readers who help us out with the survey.  Fill out this survey by May 10th and you'll automatically be entered to win! Giveaway is open to U.S. residents, age 18+ at the time of entry.  Entries will be accepted until May 10 th, 2009 at 11:59 pm EST.  Winners will be announced here on May 11th the first week of June.

[editors note: Sorry guys, we found out that we couldn't access any of the user data until AFTER the survey ends at the end of the month.  We'll have to wait until the first week of June to pick and announce the winners.  The entry deadline remains unchanged. ]

The survey is completely confidential and anonymous.  Your contact information will NOT be shared with any advertisers.

Why We Need Your Help

Wise Bread has been affected by the economy like everyone else.  It's no secret that advertising dollars have dried up across the board.  While bigger websites like MSN Money can afford to hire a dedicated sales team, we prefer to stick to writing and sharing tips.

That's why we're teaming up with Federated Media, a super cool company that represents other great sites like The Simple Dollar, Boing Boing, Craft Zine, Digg and Dooce.  Federated Media will take care of all the advertising work, so we can focus on providing you with great posts.

With this new partnership comes a fantastic opportunity to keep the ads you see on Wise Bread tasteful, relevant, and open to serving you.  The best way to do this is for you to give us your unfettered feedback on who you are and why you read Wise Bread.

While there will be no options for choosing cheeseburgers, glow sticks, or unicorns on this survey (all things that I know I want in a fantastic website), we’re pretty confident you’ll find it to be quick, painless, and completely on target.  Remember, by being honest and thorough, you equip us to give you what you really want (sans the horned ponies, of course.)

Thanks in advance, and please – keep the tips and comments coming.  We love what you have to say!

Question 36 is supposed to be 'check as many as apply', but it's only allowing one selection. I need them all. :)

Thanks Cammy!  I'll be sure to pass this along.  =)

Sorry!  The survey can no longer be edited.  Please leave tell us what you want to see on Wise Bread in the comments at the end of the survey, or right here!!

Just an fyi, but this survey forced me to select the number of employees in my company and the field in which I worked even though I'm a homemaker. Just wanted to let you know... I chose "Travel and Hospitality!" :-)

Just wanting you to know that I did go to bat for ya.  (And others who really, really dig uni's.)

Henceforth you shall refer to your children as employees.  =)

I think Trent had this same survey over at TSD recently. Same problem - homemakers were supposed to choose an industry and number of employees. He got a lot of complaints. You would think that Federated Media could fix these things!

Just like the survey on TSD they failed to take into consideration that there are people in the world that don't work in high-tech and related industries. Does Federated Media think that only Techies read blogs or are they so used to only serving high-tech blogs that they are blinded to the real world?

I've observed that the bank is getting its extra revenue regardless of which option I choose. When using debit, I am charged twenty-five cents per transaction by the bank.If I choose credit (which I usually do choose),I save the fee but the vendor is charged a fee by the bank.
They get their money either way.
