I've watched tons of "how to fold a shirt" videos and this one is by far the best. Some videos go too fast, others go too slow, but this one is just right. (See also: A Slacker's Video Guide on How to Tie Ties)
In a video, a kid named Benny shows you the famous "two second" technique, the regular technique, and the automated shirt-folding machine made out of cardboard. Note: Video no longer available.
You're a genius, kid! At your age I was still using cardboard boxes as transmogrifiers.
While Benny's video is my favorite, here's another video that does a better job of explaining how to make the shirt-folding box:

A close second place to Benny's video is this one made by fold-your-shirt.com, which also provides a step-by-step pictorial guide on their website for those of you who have trouble learning with videos. This video is more professional, but I don't like how he snaps the shirt in the end. It's too much like showing off. I like my instructional video actors to be skilled but humble, like me.

Now that I've shown you how to save some time, here's a video that'll help you waste it away. Presenting: How to fold a dollar into a shirt.

Last and certainly not least, here's the original Japanese video that started it all:

That Benny kid has too much time on his hands, but I certainly appreciate the video. Nice find, Will.
or does anyone else feel like that Benny kid is hitting on them?
it's certainly not just u.
That Benny kid is a metrosexual with OCD or something.
But he's a OCDing metrosexual with a COOL video. =)
The OCD in me is giddy.
Me tooooo! Awesome set of videos, right there.
Rejoice in your perfectionist ways.
nah.. this kid is really cool
As someone with an aversion to folding, well, anything, it took me a few months to get around to watching these.
I think Benny is very charming, you know, for a kid. He will go far in life because he's a confident smart-ass. That's a stellar combination. And I say that with all sincerity.
Only in the context of a blog would somebody shamelessly begin a speech by making the claim, "I've watched tons of 'how to fold a shirt' videos...." Hilarious.
And yes, I felt a little like I was being worked over, especially when he transitions to Scene 2, where's he's all sitting on the floor, casual, smoove, hey beautiful what's up.
Actually, I'm pretty much obsessed with shirt-folding. I would shamelessly talk about this subject in real life as well. Yes, I'm still single ladies (looks askance at Andrea).
An askance glance. Why? What did I do to deserve a look cast "With disapproval, suspicion, or distrust", Will?
Because you keep saying you're hitting on me, but when I send you those one-way tickets you never take me up on them. Very suspicious. I really think you are cheating on me with the shirt-folding boy.
He's all of 12. Young and smarmy is not really my cup of (decaf green) tea.
If I'm going to cheat on you with anyone, it's going to be Greg. Or possibly Lynn. I like to keep my love affairs within the admin group.
no matter how many times i try that damn japanese fold it doesn't work for me. i don't get what he means when he says grab "a little past" the corner. uhh. help?
This is for T-shirts. How about one for shirts?
BTW, Bennie looks like the next Prom Queen. Is his sister missing any clothes?
I used "machines" like this 15+ years ago in the military. When you have wall locker inspections, clothing items have to be exact sizes, stacked certain ways, etc. We used cardboard "machines" to fold them to exact sizes saving tons of time (especially when hung over from drinking the night before). Still cool for a kid (who is goobersexual by the way)...
I'm all about efficiency and speed so I decided to try the Japanese folding technique...it works quite well but I find myself still resorting to my old technique...leaving the clean laundry in the dryer and taking them out when I need them or taking them out but leaving them in a nice clean pile for future use. :p

Worked in retail or something. I think that's the way they teach them.
Benny probably just worked in retail or something. Isn't that the way they teach them?

LOL, I really needed to know that. I've always wondered how to fold a shirt so perfectly.
That's a bit much. He has way too much time on his hands. He needs a life.

Yesterday saw an ad on TV for a similar folding machine made of plastic; somebody was smart enough to make money using somebody else's idea !
good videos, but 'beany' is really trying....and try way too hard.
A good buddy Albert adapted the original shirt folding technique into a rather successful pick-up routine, on one occasion even managing to swap tops (but not phone numbers) with a delectable young lady...
Oh.. Mah.. Gah!
Dude. I can't wait to try it at home. =)
