Now that's what I call recycling.
David Barshow started with 400 empty cans of Mountain Dew, a pipe, and a dream. Actually, after consuming that much sugar, it was probably more of a psychedelic vision of dancing mimes and baby pandas than a "dream." But hey, why judge? His website, mdewtree.com, appears to no longer be live, but this guy has reproduced instructions, in case you have 400 cans, heavy gauge wire, and a PVC pipe lying around.
While you may not be jumping with excitement to make your own soda can Christmas tree this holiday season, there are surprising ways you can recycle (and even sell!) some of your household disposables. Kids love popsicles? Save the sticks! Eat up all the eggs? Re-purpose the carboard egg crates! Heck, you can even make gifts out of spare scraps of paper. If you aren't feeling the craft bug bite, then turn your trash for a profit. That's right — everything from toilet paper tubes to old magazines can sell like hotcakes on eBay! One person's trash truly is another person's treasure.

I wonder if they washed the cans first! I want to see the video where the tree is swarming with ants. Heh.
Dude awsome tree
How long did that thing take to make?! I recall seeing a house made out of aluminum cans, and even aluminum xmas trees, but never an aluminum can tree. lol. You should go and recommend to websites like Balsam Hill to make their artificial christmas trees out of that!
Guess I hadn't seen this post before. Cool one, and 'tis the season!
In NY State, can deposits are 5 cents. That's a lotta nickels to make that tree- but very well executed!
thats awesome!
I love seeing stuff like this .. now i know there is someone else out there in this world who thinks up stupid stuff like this! I can totally see me and my cuz making one of these sweet trees.. but of course we would drink all the mountain dew ourselves first..
FANTABULOUS!
luv it!!
Some people like their whiskey.
Some people like their gin.
But a pretty girl and Mountain Dew.
Really gets under my skin.
Because I live in a Mountain Dew world.
My body runs on Mountain Dew pearls.
My mind floats in a Mountain Dew haze.
I look at the world.
Through a Mountain Dew gaze.
A pretty girl and Mountain Dew.
Really gets under my skin.
