I was thinking about picking up a Macbook but we'll see.
Nomination Money Clips: A Give Away for the Guys
While the past two give away contests have been wildly successful, they’ve leaned a little toward the feminine side. Gentleman, Nomination loves you too. In honor of tax refund season, and in the true spirit of Wise Bread, they are giving away two of their stylish stainless steel money clips from the men’s collection. Read on for details.
If you’ve spent any time at all exploring their e-store, you’ve noticed they have some really fun items there designed with men in mind. Among those items are several super cool money clips. And as I said above, they are giving two of them away here on Wise Bread. Just submit a comment below stating how you would like to spend your wad of tax dough before 9:00 a.m. EST on Monday, March 3, 2008. You’ll be entered to win.
- The first clip? It’s from the Domino collection and retails for $76.00. (Pictured below.)
- The second clip? One from the Twist line with a regular retail value of $66.00. (Pictured above in the article introduction.)

As you can see, both pieces are sleek, masculine and definitely fall into the "clips for a man's man" category. Hey, at our house, we use a binder clip. So these would definitely be an upgrade. So drop me a note, folks. You'll be entered to win. Good luck, everybody.
(Contest over today, March 3, 2008. Winners have been contacted. Thanks to everyone for participating.)
Best of Wise Bread
that's something my wife knows about.. personally I have never seen one.. I manage my tax payments so I neither owe or am owed at the end of the year.. my money has been working all year long for me instead of waiting in the taxman's coffers!
Sick of the Costanza wallet...was headed the binder clip route...but this looks much better! Hope I win!
i was just looking at how beat up my money clip is; this is destiny.
my tax refund is paying off some mandatory repairs on a rental property, and the balance goes into my ROTH for 2008.
After spending a few days browsing this site, it has renewed my lost love of bargain hunting. There's a certain pleasantness in understanding that someone else isn't getting rich while simultaneously laughing at me for buying their useless stuff. I plan to see how far I can get my tax return to go without being taxed on it, simply for spite. Clothing, garage sales and internet shopping are going to be widely implemented as the government receives nothing from those purchases in PA. I'm no anarchist and I know the government needs it's money to operate, but if they're not going to take it from me...I'm pretty determined to keep it myself.
I'll be using my refund to pay off some bills and the rest is going into my ING account to get some interest! Sweet looking money clips!
How about those who will be owing money at tax time? My tax refund is currently at negative $5910. Maybe I should write about how the government might be spending that instead. :)
I'm getting a whopping $20 back from the taxman this year, so maybe I'll celebrate with a movie rental and a pizza.
on doing some repairs around our house. The rest of the money will either be saved as cash for eventually replacing our current car, or used to make some extra payments on student loan debt.
"how you would like to spend your wad of tax dough before 9:00 a.m. EST on Monday, March 3, 2008."
wow, I have to blow it all this weekend?? :)
I'll be paying school tuition/credit card balances and maybe a family vacation if I have any leftover.
Since my refunds are never expected (I plan to neither owe nor be owed), I'm taking the refund and trying to double it on red!
I was thinking about taking my refund and rebate along with my wife's and putting it in a college find for my little girl who will be born in July.
As usual, my tax refund will be funding my "get out of town and go play with my nephews" travel fund. Although this year I've got a trip planned before I finish my taxes...all hail the power of creative budgeting. :)
Wow, those look pretty slick.
Really enjoy reading the blog.
hmm this time of year always seems bad for us. I better start saving for next year. The financial industry slump sure aint helping.
Ha ha, let's talk about the wad of tax dough I'll be submitting instead. We still have a renter's credit in MN, though, so sometime in August I'll be delightedly dropping cash into my IRA or maybe making an extra student loan payment. I know, it's glamorous.
Most of our tax refund is going into savings, but were going to spend a little bit to upgrade our house.
Us freelancers don't have the same attitude towards tax time since we don't have any withholding the rest of the year. So I'll be shuttering as I open up the envelope from my tax guy telling me the final tally for '07. And if its not too many thousands, I'll celebrate by dropping what is left over from my "taxes" sub-account into the IRA.
Those money clips are indeed pretty sweet - and while I know you gotta slant this one toward the fellas, as a chick I'd still be down to use one...
While I probably *should* put my tax deliciousness toward something important like "rent" or "savings" - I'll probably blow it on some geeky treat (go gadget go), or maybe some outrageous New York restaurant. Life is too short, eh?
Well, the carpets in our house are really on the way out. So, we're going to put down hardwood. It might be a bit more $$ to start with (the tax refund should about cover the difference between HW and carpet), but it's longer-lasting, the new varieties are easier to care for, less grungy overall... and looks great too boot.
What's a tax refund? I haven't gotten one in years! But if I did, I would definitely put it towards retirement, as it's just my own money coming back into my bank account, it's not a gift at all.
My refund is going against credit card debt and to the vet so my little dog Homer can get dental surgery. Yes, dental surgery.
Dental surgery for dogs is not unheard of. Some breeds carry gum disease more than others. I had to take my miniature schnauzers to the doggie dentist more than once :(
If you've got a wad of tax dough coming, you should probably have your W-4 adjusted. I don't want to owe any taxes at the end of the year, but I don't want to let the government earn interest on my wages all year long ;)
We're putting our refund in savings to earn our own interest. My significant other has a birthday coming up March 14th ~ and these would make a perfect gift. *Thanks* for the giveaway!
MY wife and I already got out returns which I used to pay off a loan I took out against my 401k(it was an emergency) and put into savings for our baby fund (were are expecting March 19th...wheee!)
Great blog. Love how frequently updated it is.
I plan to spend part of it on photography stuff (lighting kit with umbrella and stand) for my hobby and the rest goes in savings.
We overlooked the fact that our daughter turned 17 two weeks before year end. So much of our tax windfall will go to pay the nearly $1,000 in taxes we owe due to the loss of our child tax credit for her! The rest...for school.
Well I'm 20 and currently still living at home, but for the last few months I've been saving to move out on my own in the coming months and hope to actually do so this summer. So, yes, that's where my refund will be going as well.
If we get a refund, we will be looking at a new dresser. The one we have was given to us by my parents who got it from their parents. All in all it is probably over 40 years old and falling apart.
I currently use a butterfly-style paper clip. I find it's much easier than a binder clip (though my wife hates it just as much).
As for the tax refund... My wife and I are adopting a beautiful baby girl from Guatemala and with any luck, our 2 year odessey of red tape wrangling and heartache will end before we receive our tax refund. In any event, we will be using our tax refund (as well as all other money we can free up)to be pay the remaining international adoption fees.
I am also in the process of recalculating my withholdings for 2008 to avoid loaning the gov't money for another 12 months.

While I don't know how much, or if any, I will be getting back this year we are using the tips from these blog sites to pay off as much of our debt as possible. We have found a new interest in our money and these sites have kept tha interest going strong.
We have our savings already near $1,000 and we plan on capping that off, then we attack our snowball debt elimination project which we hope to have wrapped up by the middle to end of this year (minus vehicles). Once our vehicles are paid off within the next two years it's on to retirement, savings and our four children's college savings. Oldest is ten so we have some serious catching up to do.
Before finding these sites we had planned on replacing our home laptop with a new macbook. That can wait another year or two until we get out of debt and save enough cash for one.
I do my best to make sure I'm not giving the government a free loan and I'm not really expecting a refund.
I am a divorced mom with a son..each year my parents will treat us to airplane tickets for a summer vacation to florida where they live (since that is not in my budget) This year, due to the tax rebate we can buy our own tickets...a treat for my self respect and a break for my parents. (by the way,iI bet my dad would LOVE a money clip!)
enjoy your rebates everyone!!
You're speaking to my hear there. We did that this past year. Here's the link to the site where we documented the trip and continue to document other travel info: http://www.trekhound.com Keep us posted on your travels!
I've used a binder clip for several months now, and like the simplicity of it. The money clips do look seductive, though...so - here's my note!
My refund went right to my ING Savings account, which is my townhouse war chest. I hope to be owning something by early June, so my Bush Bucks from the stimulus package will go right to replenishing my savings.
I am going to spend my wad of cash on paying of my car and put the rest into my wife's roth IRA to start of the first year by maxing out.
My refund is going to kill off the last of my credit card debt! (Which is, ironically, partially comprised of last year's taxes.)
My brother is just about to turn 18. I have been wondering what I could get him that would be manly, useful, and long-lasting...you know, the perfect gift. I think a nice money clip like one of these would fit the bill perfectly.
I could really use a vacation. I've picked out the perfect cabin new Hocking, OH and now all I need is a few bucks saved up to make it happen.
I've got a family wedding coming up this summer in LA, so it would be nice to not have to dip into my 'real' savings in order to handle LegoLand, DisneyLand, and so on.
I plan on using my tax refund that includes my first year tuition towards a 94' Volkswagen so I can travel with my friends, and drive to work instead of being a dependent on the shoddy public transit system in my area.
....a number of different places. Since spring is soon upon on us,I'm focused on outdoors thrifty stuff. So some money is going to solar landscape lights, vegetable garden supplies, a few cans of paint and painting supplies and lastly, some wood to build a small gazebo-like structure to shade my air conditioning compressor. The remainder I'll donate to S.I.C.S.A. ( a non profit animal shelter) where I volunteer and where I got my "recycled" pup, Penny!
I need one anyway; have decided to go to New Orleans and spend those dollars where they are needed most.
We're using our refund to pay off debt. Looking forward to seeing that number drop! These money clips look slick. Nice choice!

I'm not sure how much of a refund my wife and I will get this year, but it will go toward investments. We need to save as much as we can because we plan on having children before too long. More investing now gives us more time for the wonders of compound interest to work for us. :)
Pay. Off. Debt. I'd love do to something fun but I need to be practical and use this minor windfall to chip away at the remaining credit card balance. Not fun, but smart... right?
The money from this year's tax refund will fund the final thrust of removing the clutter and excess that is in my condo garage by providing the necessary funds to hold multiple garage sales and replace ineffective storage solutions (cardboard boxes) with something much more substantial (plastic storage organizers).
The remainder of the funds left over from the garage overhaul will go towards upgrading my bicycle so that when gas hit's $4.00 a gallon this summer - I'll be able to bike the 2 miles to and from work.
Lastly, if there's anything left over after that - I'll probably save it for something else down the road - like maybe a Vespa.
Gotta love a nice money clip! Our tax return will be going directly into our savings for a down payment on a house.
Our tax refunds will be going straight to savings to help pay for our wedding! Would love a money clip to lighten the wear and tear on my pants pants from having a huge wallet, though!
Depends on how much I get back. Probably I will use some to pay down a student loan, I've got private and federal, I'll try to save some, and perhaps I'll buy the third season of bones on dvd or itunes.
(upgrading from the binder clip would be nice, and then I can use the binder clip on a cork board to hang lists and maps, and calendars and stuff...)
I think I'm going to spend my return on a pair of black wingtips that actually fit me.
For once, perhaps I'll refuse to sacrifice comfort for style.
HEYO!

I would like to finally get my extra road bicycle put together with the money back I get.
I really should adjust my withholding to get a little more on the break even.
Hi, I will wait to see if we really receive one! Please enter me in the drawing for the money clip. My husband and two sons would love to have it! Thanks very much.....Cindi
I will be spending my tax rebate on gasoline for approximately one and a half week's. Joy? Thank you Mr. Bush.
Don't expect to get a refund... However, if I do get one, I will more than likely spend it on a new computer game, or maybe a book. Hope I win the clip anyway, because it would be nice to use on what little cash I have left after I buy gas for my truck.
My tax refund went right to my ING savings account, otherwise currently known as my study abroad fund, where it will help me pay for the next (and final) 4 months in Austria, as will my government rebate check in May. I'm also expecting the MN renter's property tax rebate and will throw that in the savings too. Reading the comments here has inspired me to open an IRA account too!
Wow those money clip are nice! We usually buy my dad the leather ones... maybe we could talk him into one of these!
As for the tax refund, it will go to buying "real" insurance for my sister, the unemployed college student who doesn't have any but has a number of injuries that reqire a doctor's visit!
I love the money clips! I would like to put some of the money into a high yield savings acct. like ING and maybe use the rest for lsat prep classes..
My dear hubby deserves a money clip to use for what money we have left over after we pay for the medications I have to take .... we haven't done our taxes yet but sure hope we get some kind of refund! Any extra is wonderful with prices on everything going up, up , up! Sure hope we win one of the money clips-would be a nice surprise. Thanks!
I have a Fossil money clip/card holder that served me well for about a decade, but these days I frequently have to bend the clip back into shape and my ID and debit cards sometimes fall out.
My tax refund will either go towards paying down debt a little faster or putting some furniture in my first house.
I doubt I'd love to spend my tax money on too much, but payments for my college classes are coming up and education does come first.
I already got my tax refund and paid off 2 credit card accounts and put a little in my savings for a vacation this spring/summer.
