Seventh Generation Picnic Products Give Away
It’s official. Summer has started, and with it comes the onslaught of family picnics and pot luck gatherings. Seventh Generation wants to help. They are giving away a gift pack of picnic items from their eco friendly product line to one lucky Wise Bread reader. Simply submit a comment telling us why you need picnic support this summer season and you’ll be entered to win. The deadline? Wednesday, June 25th at 9:00 a.m. EST. Read on for gift pack details and of course, enter to win!
I’ve been reviewing portions of the Seventh Generation product line for a while now, as regular readers are already aware. A new one I just tried out this week? The kitchen trash bags. The verdict? A decent size, stronger than the other recycled plastic bags I’ve come across, and according to my husband, suitably sturdy enough to get the regular kitchen trash job done. I didn’t notice a whole lot of stretch, but personally, that’s only a major issue for us when we are using the giant lawn and garden bags, which these are not. (Although I’d love to see them release some into their product line!) Additionally, the packaging was up to their usual eco friendly standard as well. Why do I digress? Because they are including a pack of these little gems in this week’s picnic give away as part of the necessary paraphernalia needed to host and clean up from a picnic.
Ready to know what’s on the entire prize list?
• Paper Towels - One package of White 70-sheet, 2-ply ( a 3 pack )
• Napkins - One package of white 250 count 1-ply
• Trash Bags - One package of 20, 30 gallon bags
• Baby Wipes for little hands - One 40 count travel pack
Pretty slamming picnic prize package, wouldn’t you say? So join in! Post a comment below stating why you could use some picnic support this summer, and you’ll be entered to win. The deadline is next Wednesday, June 25th at 9:00 a.m. EST. Good luck readers!

My employer will be having a cookout/picnic this summer. It would be nice to use green paper products!
We moved into a house on an acre last winter, and have been trying to have as many bonfires as possible- green products would communicate our priorities to our friends- and make cleanup easier!
I could totally use these for a berry picking party!
July is full of picnics at this house!
I am pretty new to green living. I haven't tried 7th Generation yet, but I would love to.
July is full of beach picnics for us so we would put these to good use.
I am po and cheap!
I joined a Families and Schools Together (FAST) group, which evolved into a FASTworks group. We're to meet once a month, and in the summertime we'll save a lot of money by having picnics and the like. It'd be handy to have something like these Seventh Generation products to bring, so I can show the other eight families what they're like (and find out myself!), and maybe begin a tradition of keeping a supply for the group.
i'm too poor to do anything but go for walks and have pinics! we have woderful picnic area where i live, actually. Its perefcet because my daughter loves to be outside. i need this seventh gen. pack because she also loves to make a mess. dirt and food don't mesh well!
We often have large family gatherings at the beach and nobody wants to do dishes or laundry, so paper plates and plastic utensils get used...And oh, the guilt I feel! I'd love to take these items to the beach with us so I don't have to badger people to rinse and reuse their forks and paper towels...
I just got married and would love to take my new wife out on some picnics this summer!
We are planning a fourth of July as well as an end-pf-summer picnic for family and friends at our house. I am a huge fan of Seventh Generation products, but a lot of my friends think I'm crazy. I get a lot of the "eww...recycled toilet paper!" comments from them. I love being able to let them (and my husband :) use a product, love it, and then tell them it's a green product. I think it's the best way to slowly convert them. I would love this package to help with their transition process. Keep up the great work!
We're having our Second Annual Pie Fight in The Park. Though I'd save the napkins and paper towels for a picnic, those wipes and garbage bags would be of great use!
Last year's aftermath:

We are planning my daughter's birthday party and I always hate seeing the big bag of disposable trash at the end of summer picnics. Would love to try this.
My husband and I are moving soon from boiling-hot Dallas to picnic-friendly Colorado. After moving expenses, we won't have much money available for dates... a little picnic support could really liven up our summer :)

I'm throwing a garden party for my co-workers to celebrate the end of a huge project and these supplies would be a huge help - especially since I'm already planning to use recycled/repurposed materials to decorate, serve, and clean up to show them how it can be done!
We have a lot of birthday parties where we do picnic/barbeques that are coming up in July and August and would definitely put these to good use! Thank you for the giveaway!
We have a brand new baby and would love to take our two other children on a picnic!
Food prices are high -- help with the supplies and green ones at that...would be a major plus.
We are throwing a big family reunion (first one in 10 years) with my Dad's entire side of the family and this picnic set would be a great help and allow us to do it with the enviorment in mind.
we have friends over to grill out every friday, disposable products make the mess much easier to clean up.
Hi,
Well, I have three kids now. Two daughters are 7 and 10, and are learning about being better stewards of their environments. My third is a newborn baby boy. I can use aaaalll the help I can get with a newborn in the house, so the way I see it winning this would help me teach my older kids about recycled products as well as ease my load with having a newborn around when my huge, loud, hungry Latino family comes over. Everyone's clean, healthy, and happy...it's a win-win situation.

Well with gas prices through the roof, picnics are perhaps the most affordable fun thing to do this summer. Our family has grown by leaps and bounds in the last few years and everytime its like a party, but the mess is huge. How wonderful it would be to have a green picnic! We've gone 'green' at home in many things we do so this would just add to the experience.
Our house has been slowly turning greener every day. This would be another step in the right direction. We do a lot of hiking and camping, and these make much more sense to use than regular products.
ohhh, those items sound lovely! i'm a big fan of seventh generation products, but haven't tried those yet. it sure would come in handy :)
We canceled summer vacation plans because of travel prices, so would love to stay closer to home and have some wonderful picnics to distract us and make it seem as if we are on vacation.
We've switched over to cloth napkins & towels at home, but it's hard to beat the convenience of paper napkins & towels outdoors...
We really enjoy cooking out & going on picnics in the summertime - I love the idea of using eco-friendly products whenever possible!
I'm getting married in August, and my fiance and I are basically hosting a giant picnic for our friends and family as a reception. We are getting help with the food, but haven't yet acquired paper towels, napkins, etc. This would really help!
I love it coz , i will tell my collegues i'll take care of paper towels , napkins and other stuff which am getting with help of you :))
... other than the trash bags. The bags themselves were fine, but the tie always broke. I'd give them another chance if I got a free box of 'em, though - it's always possible that we just had a bad box.
And of course, our summer picnicking needs would be met with the rest of the pack.
We tend to have a lot of gatherings at our house throughout the summer, lots of BBQ, good food and good friends so this would certainly come in handy.
We're going to crater lake next weekend, I could definitely use them in the trip.
I need them because I have my daughter's 6th birthday party followed the next weekend by my wife's and I am doing them in the most green way possible.
Well I have two little nieces that have never been on a proper picnic. This would motivate the family to take a mini trip :)
We just bought a condo together and it has a balcony that we will be using for many meals this summer. Seventh Generation fits right in with our goals of self improvement (frugality, better living for ourselves and our environ). These products will be great to use at a post-wedding open house as we are also getting married in August.
Seeking out greener options for my family. This package would be great for the biking to a picnic daytrips this summer.
I'd love to win the picnic prize. My family and I regularly pack a lunch or light dinner to eat at the community pool. This support package would help!
I am one of two organizers for a camp for blind and visually impaired children, sponsored by my work (an agency for the blind). The camp is free for all students, including lunch. We will be going through a LOT of napkins and other paper products, I imagine, so any way to be greener would be great! I cringe every time a bottle of water is thrown away while we're out and about at an activity.
These would be perfect for a summer crab feast in Maryland!
this stuff would come in handy for me and my family. we have a lot of picnics these days. when we spend a day out somewhere we usally pack a lunch because eating fast food or in a restaurant has become too expensive. thanks for the giveaway.
We always have a HUGE family reunion each year (11 children in Mom's family) so anyway we could save some money would be great. Paper products are always welcome to help with clean up.
With your support I could have a picnic!
Thanks!
I need all the cleanup help I can get when the kids picnic. The 7th generation products I've tried have been great - thanks
This would be awesome for the numerous picnic opportunities summer presents...
When we picnic near home, I always use cloth napkins and 'real' plates and utensils. When we picnic farther away we have to rely on paper, and Seventh Generation provides a great alternative.
This would be great for picnics and even barbeques for the hot summer! I've already been seventh generation tampons and am focusing on becoming more eco-friendly. This is a great package!!!
That supply would last me a WHOLE YEAR : )
After a full academic year of long distance relationship (Boston, MA to Evansville, IN), my girlfriend an I are finally living together. She found a job and an apartment in New York near central park. We could honestly use all of the above around the apartment as it is currently very understocked, but it would be amazing to have an entirely green romantic picnic with her in Central Park.
Also she's the only one who currently has a job so this pack would help out all the more.
I need them for days when we take the dog to Audubon Park; we can have a picnic while the dog plays Frisbee.
Every bit of help counts!
Because we always take a picnic lunch with us when we drive to vacation.
I do use their products, their laundry detergent, toilet paper, and dish soap. Every little bit helps!!
I am in the process of moving. My wife of 39 years died last August of a brain tumor. Since I can't afford to keep our house, I am in the process of selling our house and moving into our travel trailer until our house is sold, when it is sold, I will purchase a new Park Model trailer.
Since I will have a new home, thus a new life, I would like to keep my new home lean and clean...no clutter and clean using environmentally efficient goods
thanks for your consideration
steve
I am a nurse extern working for the summer - mainly nights and weekends which means my husband will be entertaining our two young boys solo for must of the summer. He will be spending lots of time on outdoor adventures and could use all the help he can get.
We are a recycling kind of family and even the kids know what goes into the recycling bin and have been donating their extra toys lately. I'd love to be able to show them they can take care of the earth even when they are out having fun by using the right products!
Kim
Our boating vacation this summer would be much more environmentally friendly if I had these cool products to take with us!
We are having a picnic with family this summer. I was trying to think of a way to have it be as green as possible. This picnic pack will help, plus it will give me chance to explain to them why green is easy as well as important.
Food just tastes better eaten at our picnic table on the deck.
It's too hot to eat inside so most summer meals should be a picnic outside
The kids and I like to eat our lunches out side on the patio and these would be great for that. Thanks.
I love my greatgrand son, but his sticky fingers are not good for my sofa - or car uphostery! He lives with me and he is 2 1/2 years old. So knowing that, you know that I can use all of the products listed above. (and then some) He likes to eat out on the deck, so a paper towel is his place mat. Napkins are a must, and who doesn't need garbage bags?
My family definitely needs picnic support! We've recently added three new babies to the family (all girls, I'm proud to say), and have two more on the way!! It's so important to teach the children all the little things we can do to reduce our environmental footprint. I would be thrilled to be the family member who eases the eco friendly transition with Seventh Generation products at our next picnic.
The AC in my house is currently broken, so it's too hot to use the oven and eat indoors right now. I need this for my al fresco dining!
One of the largest SCA/medieval events is coming up the end of July: Pennsic, 2 weeks of camping and medieval reenactment activities. We take over a large campground in Western PA and boy do we need picnic support! Hand wipes are key. And napkins and paper towels always come in handy. Even if we pick up lunch from a vendor, we often forget napkins so carrying around a few extras from a stash from Seventh Generation is ideal. Plus paper towels are good to have to wrap a bit of ice in for the emergency bug bite or bruise treatment while away from the first aid kit. Trash bags are always great to have on hand to collect everyone's rubbish after lunch up on the fencing field. So, you could say we could really use the picnic support for our 2-week long picnic!
We've got extra get-to-gethers during the summer due to work picnics, local jazz festivals, the big summer on the beach festival, grad parties and family bbq's. I'd love to use these responsible products for the parties.
With gas prices soaring I've been trying to keep us close to home. Picnics are a fun yet cheap way to stay close to home, but can end up pretty wasteful with the wrong products. I'd love to check out the rest of your line of products and mix it in with my non-disposable picnic items. Thanks!
I'm taking a full-time load of summer classes, and I could really use a picnic to remind me that calculus isn't the entirety of my life now.
I'll be celebrating my 1 yr Green-nniversary of living green! It would be nice to celebrate and having some green stuff from a Brand I know and trust! :)
thanks!
Yup, if all goes well, I will no longer be dwelling in my stuffed, hobbit-hole like apartment. Unfortunately, along with moving into a house comes all the sundry expenses and $$$$. I would appreciate stocking my new home cupboards with these (free) products...or at least until my dishes get found/unpacked.
We are having a huge family reunion that will include at least 13 kids under age 3. If that's not a need for napkins and wipes, I don't know what is. :)
I would like to win this to help convince my skeptical friends and family that buying 'green' is just as economical and practical as everything else out there.
It would be great to have a July 4th picnic with items that are good for the environment.
I need picnic support! My parents just moved back into town after an 8 year absence. Their favorite frugal entertainment is a picnic and frisbee with the grandkids. I supply the kids, they supply the food. It sure would nice if I could also supply some other things as well, for free!
I would like to win the picnic prize package! Since gas prices are crazy and I’m *this close* to paying off all my credit card debt, my family and I have decided not to go away for a summer vacation. Instead, we’re staying in town and enjoying what our area has to offer. Sharing a picnic with friends sounds like a perfect addition to that plan. Thanks!
My husband and I have chosen to stay in an older neighborhood in our large town rather than sell and live in newer neighborhoods so we can be the "salt and light" to the neighborhood if you will. So, most weekends during the year we have a yard full of kids from the neighborhood. This summer I have a yard full of kids daily! If my kids aren't home because they are at relatives the kids peer through my backdoor and hang out on my porch. :(
I teach school so right now I am off and can supervise, someone should. The children all have someone home but you never see them. The kids are at my house all day including meal times and no one ever checks on them. So, needless to say we go through lots of plates, napkins, and garbage bags to take care of the 7-9 kids I feed daily (only 2 of those are mine).
I look at this as a ministry but could sure use some products to help out. I'm trying to teach the kids to be eco friendly, using cups again, not throwing trash on the ground (their yards are littered with yuck), and cleaning up after yourself including your face (boy those wipes would come in handy). These kids don't have anyone at home that takes the time to teach them these things or even talk to them.
Would love to win so Seventh Generation could be a part of this neighborhood education!
Britt
We already use the cleaning solution on our counters to much success. It would be great to win this stuff and use it towards a friends and family picnic in the park.
I'm always looking for ways to green up my life a little and we are always spending time outside camping or BBQ-ing. I would love these products!
This is my first year camping/picnicing and a little head start would come in handy!
I need picnic support because I can barely afford to buy food and supplies for my family, let alone purchase environmentally-sound products, which often cost much more.
I would love to be part of the solution to a greener environment. I will be the
Seventh Generations best ever spoksperson in the Midwest. I will have a neighborhood get-to-gether to intoduce these fine products to all of my friends. I am a 7th grade science teacher and with the summer off, who better to spend some quality time promoting a greener lifestyle. I spent Christmas on the western most tip of Africa and I know first hand where all of our trash has been going that we have so called "thrown away." There is no such place you know it just moves to someone elses backyard!
Having not been someone who has ever focused on recycling or helping to take care of the earth, now that I have had children, I am much more conscientious of leaving behind a good legacy for them. I am becoming very aware of our resources and of what chemicals I am exposing them to on a daily basis. Every day, I take my children outside for lunch for a picnic on the yard. What a wonderful way to continue to talk about saving the earth to use Seventh Generation products.
I'll be having a housewarming party in about a month down at the little park by where I live. It's metro accessible so hardly anyone will drive and I'll make them recycle all their cans and bottles. Thanks for the giveaway!
We have a new baby, and just moved to my husbands hometown to be closer to family. We're now also living on one income.
With all these changes, we've had to change our lifestyle too. One of our new fun activities is picnics and cookouts with the extended family and friends.
I'd love to win this picnic package to save money, have fun with my loved ones, and leave a better world for my children all at the same time.
Thanks!
We are a summer BBQ lovin family...so we can always use paper products!! And the wipes....wow do we go thrugh alot of those with the kiddies!!
I am throwing my son's 4th birthday party in our backyard and am trying to do it as green and as possible on a small budget. And we love Seventh Generation! My son wore their diapers and my 2 year old still does. And the wipes are great! In a society that throws the most ridiculous, wasteful parties for children, I am trying to show my children and our friends that there is a better way!
My husband is our family breadwinner and his business hasn't been doing so well lately.
I want to go green, but the products are so expensive! I would love to not let our financial woes keep us from providing great summer memories.
I would be so grateful for some free, green picnic supplies.
Thanks for the great blog!
Cheers!
With Summer finally here, my divorced Dad has been grilling out every weekend. Instead of using real plates when the family comes over, he uses and wastes so many paper/plastic products that he'd make GreenPeace hold a rally in his front yard! He really hates doing dishes. Everyone often jokes with him, "Dad is letting us use his fine china again!" The wipes would be great too for my 7 month old. I'm hoping by giving my Dad this he will finally get a clue!
Good morning, everybody.
