The Capital One Platinum Prestige Credit Card Offers Value Instead of Perks

Many of the credit card offers that appear on the website are from credit card companies from which Wise Bread receives compensation. This compensation may impact how and where products appear on this site (including, for example, the order in which they appear). This site does not include all credit card companies or all available credit card offers. Any opinions expressed are those of the author's alone, and have not been reviewed, approved, endorsed, or provided by the issuer.

Editor's note: This card is no longer available.

There are some credit card users who look for the product with every conceivable bell and whistle. They are the ones who are dazzled by glittering offers of points, miles, perks, and benefits. But sadly, many of these people end up seeing their savings getting eaten alive by fees and interest charges that are higher than they could be.

Other credit card users just want a simple product. To heck with all those benefits that few can ever use, just give them the best rates! If this is you, consider the Capital One Platinum Prestige card with no annual fee.

How This Card Works

This is not a feature filled card with rewards for spending more or benefits that result in a high annual fee. Instead, this is a card with just a few of the most valuable credit card perks.

Travel benefits. Cardholders receive complimentary auto rental insurance and travel accident insurance, allowing you to travel knowing that you have some protections to fall back on if you're ever in trouble.

Extended warranty protection. Purchases made with this card are covered by an extended warranty program that adds an additional year to your products warranty.

Free monthly credit score. Cardholders will also have access to their monthly credit score at no additional cost for as long as they remain a cardmember.

Pros

Low fees. I also love the fact that there is no annual fee and no foreign transaction fees. Those with the best credit scores will qualify for the lowest standard APR.

Cons

No rewards or bonus. There are no rewards for this card, and those who pay their balances in full and on time each month should always be looking for the best reward card out there. Likewise, there is no sign up bonus for new applicants.

Who This Card is Best For

This is the ideal card for those who occasionally must carry a balance on their credit cards, as well as those who might be carrying some debt. And so long as cardholders use the promotional financing offer to pay down their debts rather than add to them, they can save a lot of money with this card.
