Posted February 13, 2009 - 15:12 by Xin Lu

Making Extra Cash, Art and Leisure

In parts one through four I reviewed various revenue sharing websites. There are actually many more of these sites out there that share a part of their revenue as long as you provide the content. So in this final portion I will write about the pros and cons of earning from your own website or blog.

money money money, must be funny

In my recent post about eBay Motors, I recounted the story of a seemingly worthless car that sold for over $226,000. But this next story is bizarre. What turned out as a sarcastic but funny prank ended up being worth $10,000.

Link-Love Makes the World Go 'Round

Personal Finance

In keeping with the warm and fuzzy feeling that Wisebread gives many of its writers and readers, I am taking a moment to give thanks to those that have linked to us over the past two weeks. We appreciate that you would vouch for our perspectives on money and life here at Wisebread. While every attempt is made to include all link love and honorable mentions, I am a newer writer here at Wisebread, and may have inadvertently missed someone very special who didn’t show up in my search. If you are one of those brilliant but overlooked souls, just email us, and we’ll be sure to get you included in the next listing of Wisebread friends and family.

How to travel to and from Canada

Getting to and from Canada is getting to be a real pain in the ass. I should know, since I cross the border several times a year to visit family and friends all over the Great White North. The border has always given me the jitters. I've never tried to illegally take anything over the border, but I'm still always a bit freaked out by the process, especially since the guards are getting touchier and touchier as travel restrictions and passport rules get stricter.

The Good, The Bad and the Ugly - What Kind Of Blog Commenter Are You?

Posted 2 years ago by Paul Michael

line up

As a writer for a blog that’s growing in popularity, I’m noticing that several different types of blog commenters exist. And not just on Wisebread, but also on every other blog I read. Some are great, some are good, some are bad and some are, well, just plain mystifying. Do you know what type you are? I have compiled a list of the main ones, not just for the sake of everyone who reads and writes for this blog, but for every other blog out there. If we all know what type of blog commenter to be, maybe we’ll all achieve blogging nirvana.

Link it real good

Wise Bread loves the following blogs for their linky love. We encourage our readers to visit these blogs, leave comments, and love them in return along with us.

Paul's pink slip article got a mention from one of our blogging idols, Dumb Little Man, a couple weeks ago, and I neglected to mention it in the round up. We love you, Dumb Little Man! Every dumb, little thing about you. Wait, that doesn't sound good. Anyway, sorry for the miss.

A (by no means definitive) list of some cool (and free!) additions for your blog or website

DIY, Entrepreneurship

As a supplement to my last post about using WordPress to set up a personal or business website for free (minus the price of domain name registration and/or hosting), here are some ideas for enhancing the functionality of your site or blog with some plugins and other third-party add-ons. Almost all are free, although there are a few that have a nominal fee, based on what you require:

Do you write like a girl?

Posted 2 years ago by Andrea Dickson

Based on some of the comments we get around here, it's safe to say that some of you might suspect me of possessing my very own pair of cajones. Attached ones, that is. Not, like, in a jar or something. Sicko.

Well, it turns out that there might be something to that. No, no, I'm not a man. Not even part man. Sure, I can beat you in an arm-wrestling competition without even using my arms, but I'm all woman, baby. Only apparently, I write like a man.

Giving is Better Than Blogging... or IS it?

Posted 2 years ago by Troy Hadley

Giving is better than receiving. I do sincerely believe this, as much as I like receiving. And I do like getting stuff.

You know that old saying about giving a man a fish, and he'll eat for a day... but teach him how to fish, and he'll end up going to cooking school and opening a swanky restaurant downtown that you won't be able to get reservations to, despite the fact that you taught him, in painstaking detail, how to tie flies when he was down and out?

Wise Bread is always grateful for the links we get from friends and even rivals. We'd like to take time to thank eveyrone who linked to us, and highlight some of the goodies.

Scrapbookers the world over, but particularly Scrap Scene, were happy with Paul's creative card-making ideas.
