The Shanghai Supposition: Better Choices=More Choices=Better Experiences

Posted 25 weeks 7 hours ago by Jabulani Leffall

Lifestyle

Cheap Chinese goods have created a Wal-Mart economy in America but for the individual they can be an eye-opening experience about the joys of travel, about the pride garnered from being a citizen of the world, about knowing that an inexpensive trip isn't a waste of money or time but it's the opposite, if you don't do these things.

Money Porn: Are you an "Adult" Investor?

Personal Finance

With the use of provocative phrases such as "hard sell," "sharp-rise," "capital injection," inflation," "surge" and "double-digit growth," is it any wonder that watching real-time business news on television seems more and more akin to watching skin flicks. And oh what an empty feeling when the television goes off.

Throwing out your own trash

Posted 1 year 2 weeks ago by Philip Brewer

Shopping

Businesses, especially big businesses, try constantly to shift work from their paid staff to their customers. It's one of the major trends in business today. Customers are willing to do the work when it saves them money or saves them time. They're delighted to do the work when it makes it easier for them to get exactly what they want--selecting their own fruit at the grocery store versus having a clerk give them a bag that includes one bruised piece that otherwise wouldn't sell.

They're turning Paris Hilton's trash into cash.

Entrepreneurship

There's a new website in town folks, and this one is literally scraping the bottom of the barrel. HollywoodStarTrash.com has hit upon an idea that turns dumpster diving into something quite, well, distasteful. They rummage through the garbage cans of Hollywood biggest stars and sell what they find. And as always, the infamous Paris Hilton tops the list of star junk. What's on sale, I hear you ask? The list is quite disturbing. For $50 (starting price) you can get yourself this used Paris Hilton deodorant. Mmmm.

Credit Card Offers - Now THAT'S Quality

Posted 1 year ago by Andrea Dickson

I recently received a credit card invitation that clearly was put together by a computer or a chimpanzee, or a chimp with a computer. Inside, I am invited to apply for a credit card as a part of my business - my business, a little company apparently known as "Andrea Dickson Kimberly D Scott@ [redacted].com". You can sort of see the name in the picture of my simulated credit card from the offer, above.

Yes, I've never been good with naming businesses, so I decided to name my non-existent business after myself and my sister's email address.

Is This Job Worth It?

Posted 1 year ago by Troy Hadley

This post technically isn't about me. It's about a friend, a lousy job situation, and soliciting feedback from our readers for a friend of mine.

Tiffany is an engineer who works for a small start-up. She makes a very good salary, has benefits, and doesn't have a particularly heavy workload at the moment (her company is building a product, so the work comes in fits and starts, so she's been chilling for a couple of months while the hardware is being built). Anyway, Tiff is kind of bored right now, but otherwise OK. She's the only female in her office, and works with about 12 men who are much older than she is (she's 27, they're all about 45-57).
