In Becoming a Category of One, business consultant Joe Calloway writes about how companies can successfully beat their competition by creating their own category of business and being the only one in it. I feel that many business leaders would benefit by reading this book, and as a consumer I feel that the world would be a better place if all businesses applied the lessons in this book.

As a professional ad man, I'm ashamed to say that I'm really not good at advertising, well, me. That goes double in social situations. I never know where to stand, how to eat, how to engage people in an interesting way, even shaking hands never really seems to go as well as I'd hoped. And I am rotten at remembering names. In a world obsessed with first impressions, knowing just how to act can be your ticket to fortune and glory.

If you've never considered starting an internet business--but now that I mention it, it seems like a good idea--this is the book for you. If you've considered starting an internet business--but you've done no serious thinking about how to approach actually doing it--this is an excellent book. If you've already got an internet business, or you're otherwise familiar with one's inner workings, I'm afraid you won't find a lot in this book that you don't already know.
