A few years back, I got a tidy little lesson in exactly what collision coverage is. We'd had a car damaged in an accident, damaged pretty badly. So, it wasn't a surprise when the insurance company called and said they were going to total the car. Fortunately, we checked over the paperwork they sent.

Wise Bread is an optimistic place. There are some people who can't see the congruence between optimism and frugality. I'm talking about the people who point to our progress from 360 square foot houses to 2400 square foot houses and say that, if your vision of the future doesn't have us all in 16,000 square foot houses pretty soon now, it's a pessimistic one. This article, though, isn't about houses. It's about cars.

I love quick fixes for problems. Especially quick fixes that involve alcochol, and let me tell you that this one is pure genius.
If you've ever done something silly, like leave a dome light on all night, or you just happen to have a battery that's on its last legs, then you'll know the sinking feeling of a dead battery. You dashboard panel lights may not even come on, or you get that repetitive cranking that just won't turn over.

It’s that time of year again. The time of year when you pack-up the car and depart on a summer road trip. Unfortunately, it is also the time of year when relationships are tested. Fuel prices may be going down, but for some motorists fuel prices never went up. Over 8,000 motorists in the St. Cloud, MN area are paying an average of $.50 to $1.50 less per gallon than the current market price for their gas. How did they lock-in these low rates? They went to the Bank of Gasoline. Since the mid-1980s, First Fuel Bank customers in the St. Cloud, MN area have been able prepay for their gasoline and lock in the price of their gas.

After the unexpected popularity of my previous post on dents , I thought it would be good to follow up with perhaps an even more annoying and prevalent form of car damage - scratches. We all get them, they really look awful and I have been on the hunt finding new and old techniques for removal.
Once again, I can't vouch for the success of all of these as I have only tried a couple. And as always, the type of scratch and model/make of car will also vary the result you get. But they're always worth a try. Here we go...

When I moved to America in the spring of 2001, I was paying around $1.40/gallon. Not so long ago, the price of mid-grade was double that, although now I'm paying around $2.20/gallon for my fuel. So, I decided to reduce my costs and look into ways to spend less at the pump. I found a lot of tips, plus a link to a 96-page ebook that I'll share with you at the end of this article.
