Never go shopping unless you're armed with a cell phone.

Cell Phone

"It seems like a great deal, but maybe it's cheaper somewhere else?" I've said those words a lot, maybe not out loud but certainly in my head. The thing I love about shopping online is that I can instantly see if something is cheaper at another store. But, when you're out and about, how do you do the same thing? How do you keep your advantage? Well, if you take your cell phone with you, FruCall may just be the answer.

Are these genuine bargains, or a pile of garbage?

Sale?

One of the great things about being a blogger for Wisebread is that I have a large community of people to call on for help and advice when I need it. So far I've rarely called on your sage advice, but today is different. I have stumbled upon quite a few deals in the last 24 hours and they all look good to me. But are they?

I have published my shopping list below. If you think the item is a good idea, I'll jump on it (and so should you if you want it). If you scream at me that I'm a moron for even considering such an obviously crappy buy, I'll avoid it. I'm hoping they are all steal, but hey, 2 out of 5 would be fine.

ice cream

Can I say, right here and now, I love free anything. But free ice-cream? Thank you, thank you (although Ben & Jerry's is my personal fav - Cherry Garcia, oh baby).

Anyway, on MAY 15th, from 4pm to 8pm, rush along to your local Haagen-Dazs store and you can try a scoop of one of their two new exciting and delicious flavors. Either Cinnamon Dulce de Leche or Sticky Toffee Pudding (yes please). You don't have to buy anything, just stand in line and wait for you big old scoop of creamy truthiness.

open gift

I love these discounts. It makes you feel special knowing you're getting, say, 30% off when every other sucker is paying full price. But being a Wisebread blogger I have to share the wealth with my readers. After all, I can't keep a clean conscience knowing I'm letting you guys pay full price for something, ever. So, without further ado, here's a bunch of great discount codes (some just in time for Mother's Day...hey, nothing wrong with getting Mom more for your money), and the applicable dates if known. Shop till you drop my fine frugal friends.

Access Ebay's hidden auctions

adiads

As an ebay shopper, this is a heavenly find for me (and I thank my wife for introducing me to it). Basically, it all revolves around taking advantage of typos, misspellings and other human errors in ebay listings. And I'm all about taking advantage.

Here's the deal
Occasionally, I've accidentally stumbled upon great deals because the listing had a spelling error. For example, ADIADS instead of ADIDAS. Or APLE instead of APPLE. People are not searching for that term as they generally spell it correctly themselves in the search engine.

Backdoor sale

I'm completely crazy about a new site I've just discovered. It's called Jungle Crazy and it's brought to you by those nice folks who also gave you RetailMeNot and BugMeNot.

What is it? Well, it's a very cool visual search engine of all the Mega Bargain Clearance items available at Amazon.com, all in one place. They're all at least 70% off, some as much as 90% off, and it's about to save me some serious time and money finding gifts for the multitide of folks in my extended family.

Dean Takamine is the smart-shoppin' blogger and handsome face behind the deal-finding, coupon-clipping site, Mr. Cheap Stuff. Dean spends his spare time searching for, then posting, the best online shopping deals. As a tech-loving guy, Mr. Cheap Stuff can be counted on to give you the lowdown on some of the best gadget-grubbing, money-saving opportunities on the web.

I asked Dean to share his motives, inspiration, and goals with Wise Bread readers. Also, I had to find out how he can possibly stand living in the tropical paradise we call Hawaii. I can't help it - it must be SUCH a hard existence.
