In my supermarket angst series, I've been researching questions that have puzzled me at the store. This time, I'm tackling poultry. Is organic poultry worth the price premium? What about "natural"? Or is it enough just to look for a label that says free-range or perhaps hormone free? Are meat chickens and turkeys treated as badly as laying hens on conventional factory farms?
Now that I know the answers to these questions, alas, this is an area where I'll most likely be spending more.

Everyone knows that cooking is cheaper and healthier than eating out. It's also better (i.e. more to your taste) than eating out, and easier than eating out (no driving, parking, standing in line, making reservations, waiting to be seated, dealing with hostesses, waiters, and busboys). Besides all that, I'm going to argue below that--even with shopping and cleaning up--it can also be quicker than eating out.
