Ah, Friday nights. A time when we can relax and unwind without worry of going to work the next day (or the next). You walk in the door from work ready to kick off your shoes and enjoy a quiet dinner at home when the kids meet you ready to go out and have some fun! Besides being tired from the long week at work there is this other little problem with your entertainment budget envelope--it's empty. Here are a few ways our family has fun on the cheap spending a Friday night at home.

I like to reuse magazine paper and left over wrapping paper to make my projects, but origami techniques can be applied to anything that is foldable to create amazing results. What can a dollar buy you these days? Certainly not a gallon of gas, which it could have done 6 years ago. Anyway, this idea actually came out of a lunchtime chat with some friends. I’m a sucker for writing lists and I wondered how many different uses I could find for your humble $1 bill. Some are fun, some are silly, some may actually be useful. The list took me a whole week to compile. Enjoy.

Turn $1 into $100 in about 2 minutes.

So, I can think of a few ways to turn a $1 into a $100 bill in a few minutes.

One would be to back a winning horse that has ridiculous odds. Another is to steal it. You could always ask your kind folks or other relatives for the money. Or perhaps pull a con or scam on some unwitting passers by.

But this way seems the easiest. If only I knew how he did it.
