I don't know why, but I get some kind of perverse pleasure from watching scammers get caught in the act. Maybe it's the consumer watchdog in me? Anyway, in the UK there's a fabulous consumer show called House Of Horrors. This house has been specially constructed by the trading standards folks, and contains dozens and dozens of hidden cameras. It's a mousetrap for the crooked servicepeople, from washing machine repairmen to roofers and builders. There's nowhere to run, nowhere to hide.

Removing car scratches - the revenge of the frugal body shop

After the unexpected popularity of my previous post on dents , I thought it would be good to follow up with perhaps an even more annoying and prevalent form of car damage - scratches. We all get them, they really look awful and I have been on the hunt finding new and old techniques for removal.

Once again, I can't vouch for the success of all of these as I have only tried a couple. And as always, the type of scratch and model/make of car will also vary the result you get. But they're always worth a try. Here we go...

Restore your notebook battery quickly and cheaply.

A quick one for you notebook owners, or those of you offered an old notebook with a dead battery. As I'm sure you know, notebook batteries can be expensive. Upwards of $100. But you can easily restore it for a fraction of that price.

In this short video, a tech-savvy guy shows you how to remove the dead cells, replace them and do a little light soldering. And there you have it. One brand new battery with more power than it ever had before, and for a lot less cash. Now that's what Wisebread is all about.
