Target shopping cart with teeth

There is plenty not to like about the practices of both the nation's leading big-box retailers. But a few subtle differences -- and one h-u-g-e one -- make one of them the obvious mark of boycotters everywhere. Sale

I found myself in a strange battle of wills last week. My favorite store, Target, was having another one of those spectacular sales. Red tags featuring the 75% off, and the rare 90% off, sticker were scattered far and wide throughout the store. And try as I might, I could not find a reason to buy anything.

There’s nothing like starting an article with a double negative is there? Sorry, but it was the easiest way to get my point across. Target has brought style to the masses, and for that, they will always be a favorite of mine.

The NAACP's Economic Reciprocity Initiative (ERI) is a survey of how large companies treat consumers of color. In the latest report, the majority of the companies scored Cs or below. Companies like Target, Kohl's, Dillard's, Sears, and Excel were given Fs for failing to take the survey.

NAACP President Brusce Gordon called on blacks to stop shopping at Target, in particular, until they answer the NAACP's questions.

Special holiday return policies of popular stores

Consumer World compiled a great list of the special holiday return policies of some of the most popular stores such as Amazon, Best Buy, Toys R Us, Wal-Mart, Kohl's, Target, Costco, etc.

Consumer World is run by Edwgar Dworsky, a highly respected consumer rights attorney. It is pretty sweet having an attorney read the return policy fine print for you, but I advise you to use the chart only as a general guide. Make sure you check out these policies for yourself before making a return or purchase.
