Recently I read an enlightening story in the New York Times about the Pu'er tea bubble in Yunan, China. The burgundy fermented teas fetched prices of $150 a pound at the peak, but now sells for less than a tenth of those prices. I have actually been to one of those tea houses in Yunan, and I have also seen the rise and burst of the housing bubble in America. These experiences make me think that there is a certain formula to creating a speculative bubble out of anything, and here is what I have gathered.

I finally quit drinking coffee three weeks ago.

It's not something that I particularly wanted to do, but I did it. And now that I have, I'm actually really happy about it. I feel liberated, I feel healthier, and I have already saved myself quite a nice sum of cash - cash that used to go towards black gold of the Starbucks variety.

Now, I'm not one to advocate for a boycott of caffeine or anything. But, if you're already thinking about quitting caffeine, here are some reasons, and methods, for doing so.

I've been enjoying the snarky articles at Slate.com recently focusing on the commoditization of Eastern traditions, such as yoga. As someone who purchases but never uses yoga clothing, mats, and accessories, I can truly appreciate the hypocrisy in the American tendency to turn something that is supposed to be purifying and healthy into something that is really a money-making scheme.
