I haven't had a television in years. It's not because I'm so busy mountain-climbing or saving the world. It's not because I'm really good at saving money, either. It's mostly because I just don't need it that badly, even though I sometimes really want it.

Facebook and other social networking sites know an awful lot about you from what you say when you first sign up. As a single woman over 30 years of age, I got tired of Facebook ads that were pitching miracle weight loss potions, and sites for lonely women over 30 ("Find the man of your dreams!").
So I became a lesbian.

The chances are, you're dehydrated right now. In fact, over 75% of the American population is deyhdrated, and worse still, over 80% know they are. No big deal? Well, it is actually. I've been trying, almost unsuccessfully, to become a vegan again. It's difficult, especially when you are surrounded by carnivores. Especially dismissive carnivores. But I was vegan once before, and I'd like to try it again, since it was the only time in my life where I truly felt healthy and vibrant. I'm pretty sure that (along with exercise), veganism is the key to being a good diabetic, and to weight loss. At least, for me.

I've been enjoying the snarky articles at Slate.com recently focusing on the commoditization of Eastern traditions, such as yoga. As someone who purchases but never uses yoga clothing, mats, and accessories, I can truly appreciate the hypocrisy in the American tendency to turn something that is supposed to be purifying and healthy into something that is really a money-making scheme.

Until recently, I was using one of those organic delivery services that bring fresh veggies to your doorstep once a week. It was a pretty good bargain for the price, the veggies were varied and delicious, and I got away with avoiding the grocery store for days at a time.
