Many of the credit card offers that appear on the website are from credit card companies from which Wise Bread receives compensation. This compensation may impact how and where products appear on this site (including, for example, the order in which they appear). This site does not include all credit card companies or all available credit card offers. The U.S. Bank FlexPerks® Select+ American Express® Card is a rewards credit card that awards each purchase, regardless of the category, and eliminates the hassle of signing up and enrolling in rotating quarterly categories. If your spending varies and you are not loyal to a specific brand, rewards credit cards that award a flat-rate for all purchases are more convenient and allow you to earn more rewards from your spending.

How This Card Works

The Flexperks program awards one FlexPoint for each dollar spent with the card, up to $120,000 in purchases per year. After that, you earn one point for every $2 spent with the card for the remainder of the calendar year. There is no restriction to the number of points that you can earn, but points expire five years from the end of the quarter they are earned.

You can redeem your points for gift cards with retailers such as Starbucks and Macy's, or you can redeem points for merchandise or statement credit. Points can also be redeemed for airfare with more than 150 participating carriers such as Delta Airlines and British Airways.

Pros

No specific purchase categories. Often, rewards cards award purchases made in specific categories such as gasoline or airline purchases, or require that you sign-up for categories that rotate each quarter. This card provides extra convenience with rewards programs that do not include rotating categories or specific spending categories.

Cons

Low rate of rewards. Although you earn a full point for each dollar spent, without any purchase categories or requirements, if you spend over $120,000 within a calendar year, each dollar afterward only earns half a point for each dollar spent. If you consistently spend over $120,000 per year with your card, you may want to consider other rewards cards that allow you to earn more for your money. (See also: 5 Best Cash Back Credit Cards)

Foreign transaction fee. This is an extra fee that can add up if you travel abroad frequently. (See also: Best Credit Cards with No Foreign Transaction Fees)

Who This Card Is Best For

The U.S. Bank Flexperks Select+ American Express Card is best for those who prefer the simplicity and convenience of a flat-rate rewards credit card, but do not spend more than $120,000 per calendar year with the card.
