U.S. Bank offers a wide variety of financial products, including travel rewards and cash back credit cards. The U.S. Bank FlexPerks Select Rewards Visa provides a no-frills opportunity to earn rewards on charitable donations and purchases made with the card that can be redeemed for travel through U.S. Bank's Reward Center.
How This Card Works
Earn three points for each dollar spent on charitable donations made to local, national, or international classified as a Charitable and Social Service Organization. You can also earn one point for every $2 spent on all other purchases. There is no cap on the number of points you can earn, but FlexPoints expire five years from the date earned at the end of the calendar quarter. There is no annual fee.
You can redeem your points for merchandise, or travel with over 150 airlines such as Delta Airlines, American Airlines, and Virgin Atlantic, through the U.S. Bank Rewards Center. You can also redeem for gift cards and statement credits. Your points are worth the most if you redeem for travel through the Rewards Center.
Other Benefits
Travel accident insurance. If you use your card for your travel arrangements through a common carrier, you, your spouse, and your unmarried dependent children are insured against accidental loss of life, limb, sight, speech, or hearing while traveling.
Auto rental collision damage waiver. If you rent your vehicle with your card, you are covered with the card's auto rental collision damage and can waive the insurance offered by the rental company.
Travel and emergency assistance. Also includes travel and emergency assistance services for 24/7 assistance when traveling, which can include pre-trip assistance, medical referral assistance, legal referral assistance, and lost luggage locator services.
Pros
Good for charitable donations. You can earn triple points on charitable donations, which is among the highest rates available for donations made with credit cards. If you frequently donate to Charitable and Social Service Organizations, this is the best card for earning rewards on those donations.
Cons
Low rate of rewards. With exception to the charitable donations, you only earn one point for every two dollars spent with the card. This is equal to half a point per dollar, and is the lowest rate of rewards offered by any rewards credit card. Most credit cards award at least a whole point for each dollar spent in its "other" categories, and provide bonus opportunities in a much wider range of purchase categories. Foreign transaction fee. It is especially important to consider the foreign transaction fee when shopping travel rewards credit cards. If you frequently travel abroad, cards with no foreign transaction fees will be more cost effective. (See also: Credit Cards with No Foreign Transaction Fees)

The U.S. Bank FlexPerks Select Rewards Visa is best for those who regularly make charitable donations with their credit cards and are able to rack up points for travel through the triple point earning opportunity provided.
