Working hard to figure out frugal.

Experience:

I grew up in an upper middle class household and have more or less maintained that socioeconomic status (with one year-long foray into poverty after college) - despite this, I recently found myself approaching my third decade with roughly $20 in my savings account. How can someone who grew up with fiscally responsible parents be so lousy with money?

I'm exploring my own money issues, as well as anything else I find fun, relevant, or interesting. While it's not meant as personal therapy, it helps me to share thoughts, experiences, and lessons learned with our readers.

My particular areas of interest are affordable food, crafty undertakings, and environmental issues.
