I'm a city-girl turned country-girl who traded in the corporate 9 to 5 for a home office and a life as a freelance writer. Needless to say, I'm always looking for new ways to make money and save money and that's what I'll be sharing with you here.

Long bio:

I'm a freelance writer with kids so my skills for living frugally are well-sharpened. As for professional experience, I spent many years in my previous life collecting paychecks for things like number crunching, stock option management and creating brilliant marketing campaigns for other people's products. A city girl born and raised, it was the only life I had ever known.

But a few years ago, we picked up our family and moved out into the country and I mean waaay out into the country. And amazingly, I love it  I've discovered the beauty (and frugality) of growing your own food. I've learned the importance of making a grocery list because the store is a good 15 miles away so there's no zipping back when you realize you forgot milk or bread. The closest fast-food joint is about the same distance so we cook a lot more now instead of eating out.

And you know what?

I've never been more content. And then I realized that this was just the beginning.

I've always been a firm believer in creating your own reality and so I decided to start creating mine. One of the first things on my list was to get a really thorough understanding of investing. In the past, I just plunked a percentage or two into my employer's 401(k) and thought "woo-hoo! I'm an investor!" Of course, now I know better.

I compiled all this research into an e-book - The Working Girl's Guide to Financial Freedom - so that other working chicks like me could start making their financial dreams come true too. I quit my 9 to 5 and took my freelance writing business full-time. I also started looking for other ideas that would not only supplement my income but also feed my spirit.

So far, I've built some blogs and websites. I've written a few e-books that are out there on the web and I've got a few more on the way. I'm also kicking around some craftsy projects and I'll let you know how those turn out as well. Who knows? Maybe I'll sell them on eBay or something.

What I do know is that life truly is what you make of it. And if you want to make it something amazing, you absolutely can!
