I work as a full-time writer at an advertising agency. Even while I'm creating ads, I'm trying not to be swayed by advertising myself. I'm a skeptic and a cynic and look at the world with a critical eye, and I believe that learning about money from our peers is just as important and learning from so-called experts.
I'm in my mid-twenties, living in the midwest and trying to complete the leap to financial independence. I have a passion for personal finance and believe being young isn't synonymous with being irresponsible and disastrous with money.
Long bio:
I graduated college under four years with a degree in Creative Writing, and I've just been trying to figure out the world since. I earn my living as an advertising copywriter in a midwestern town. In the past, I've worked as a travel agent and a paprika technician (yes, you're reading that right).
I grew up with divorced parents and on both sides of the track - poor at once house and very well off at another. I've spent time hanging out in dingy coffee shops with friends and riding in $10-million boats, and I believe drinking cheap coffee with friends is better. I believe in a life full of meaning, not stuff, and look for the balance between a comfortable life and a financially sensible one. Less is more. I subscribe to Suze Orman's personal mantra, "People first. Then money. Then things."
