Long bio:

For fourteen years as a Family Thrift Counselor, Mary Webber shared her wisdom statewide in Maine through a weekly radio show and television segments on topics ranging from baking bread and raising chickens to fund-raising strategies and writing wills. But it has always been in the kitchen that Mary's practical approach has been particularly appreciated. Mary has an extensive background in both print and broadcast media, as well as public relations and writing. After leaving media work, Mary became a middle school teacher for ten years, years she describes as "exhilarating and exhausting!" She lives on a little less than two acres in Yarmouth, Maine, where she and her husband raise most of their own food.

On a more personal note, I have four children, two steps, four grandchildren, a dog, three cats, and three grandpuppies.  My interests are eclectic... Reading, fishing, cooking and of course gardening top the list.  I am a perpetual student, interested in anything and everything, and I have written on topics as diverse as the Small Houses of the 1930's,  how to turn local historical legends into ballads, and the awesome experience of being the volunteer cook at the weather station atop Mt. Washington for a week.
