Turn in a friend in need of a makeover, and you could both win a green makeover and spa getaway. Just score a picture of your friend's under the sink area in the kitchen and submit it with a write up on why you think they deserve to win. Better yet, in addition to the overall contest, Wise Bread readers get an extra shot at two separate prize packages by participating right here in the comment section. Read on for details.

Got a friend who needs a green makeover on the home front? This contest, which runs until August 14th (2009), lets you turn in a friend by submitting a photo of his / her under the sink area. That and a 250 word description as to why your friend needs the makeover and consult will get you entered. Contest details on the “under the sink” program are available via this link. Sponsored by Seventh Generation, the prize includes a consult with eco living expert and pediatrician Dr. Alan Greene, a year's supply of Earth friendly cleaning products and a major spa getaway package to New York City. For the Wise Bread portion of the contest, two separate prize packages will be given away. One spa package from Lavera, and one starter kit prize package from Seventh Gen. Here are the details for both winning opportunities.

UNDER THE SINK NYC CONTEST

Grand Prize Package ( One Winner )

  • In-home consultation at the friend’s house with Dr. Alan Greene, a practicing pediatrician and specialist in green living.
  • A one year supply of Seventh Generation products for both the entrant and the friend in need.
  • A trip to New York City for the entrant and her friend that includes a one-night stay at the W New York Times Square hotel.
  • A day of pampering at New York’s Green Spa that will include a body polish, wellness massage and ocean vegan spa manicure/pedicure, along with a one hour make-up application and lesson.

Semi Finalist Packages ( Four Winners )

Not a bad package for 250 words and a picture. So take your shot, and let me know how it goes if you win. I promise I'll try not to be envious. Once again, here's the link to Seventh Generation's under the sink contest details.

Unfortunately, I could use BOTH the beauty and cleaning product make-overs! With a new baby on the way, my beauty regimen has completely gone to seed. I could use some serious spa-like help. With the arrival of this new baby (in December), I am also hoping to have transitioned to using green products in the home in order to minimize our entire family's exposure to the chemicals in traditional cleaning products.

Is it bad that I'm really hoping to win the cleaning products?! Thanks! Jessica

I'm interested in going green in every way possible! My Mother introduced me to the products Seventh Generation a while back and I enjoy the products myself. Here in Alaska (on the Kenia), it's hard to find and I would like the chance to experience products other than the clothes detergent and all-purpose cleaner! Also, I was unaware of the beauty products available! That's a fantastic idea!
I would love the oppertunity to experience these products, and pass along the 'good' word reguarding Going Green! I'm sure my daughter with 5+ children would love to know how great this works! Thank-you, Shelli

I would love to win the cleaning package! I have been green in my cleaning off and on for a while (using baking soda and vinegar) but I occasionally break down and buy one scented chemical filled cleaning item. Then the flood gates open and I find myself buying a ton of those cleaning products, just to experience cleaning house with a product that smells nice, and not like vinegar. Then my frugal side kicks in and I continue to use the definitely not green products until they are all gone. Help me end this vicious cycle! I need Green and Scented!

I love the Seventh Generation products I've used so far, but I haven't tried the ones listed above.

What I really need is the makeover. Cosmetics and personal care items have been last on my green to-do list for too long!

I'd love to go greener for my health and the health of my family as well as the environment. We suffer from allergies, so I don't like using really harsh, toxic chemical products on our bodies or in our home.

I'm always trying to incorporate green living into our lives, and would like to avoid the chemicals of standard cleaning supplies. I even think it would make me more motivated to clean because I've always hated that suffocating feeling when I'm scrubbing down the bathroom and I'm surrounded by that strong chemical smell, yuck!

My under-the-sink area is actually a cardboard box in my hall closet (living in NYC, there isn't much room under my sink). I use the same products I have my entire life: Windex, Comet, and Fantastic. (The box also holds a plunger and a toilet bowl brush.) These have worked for cleaning up just about any mess that I've come across. I'd like to try something "greener", but I'm worried about the price.

I am not as far along toward greening as I would like - I could use the boost in either category! Plus some of those Seventh Generation products I can't even find.

I can't imagine that anything I'm using now is good for my skin, and I'm at an age where it's beginning to show, if you know what I mean. Green would probably be better than what I'm using.

I've kinda been having a tough week, so I could really use the pick-me-up of either the cleaning supplies (because I had a nightmare about my house being covered in dust last night) of the spa kit (because I could use some relaxation in my life). Thank you!

Would love to win the cleaning supplies. We have a toddler in the house and I feel so much better using greener cleaners!

Guest's picture

As a mom I can always use both- good green cleaning supplies for my families health & home spa supplies to remind me that I'm still a woman, not just a mom.

Thank you - I would love to go green in any way possible. I would gladly love to try these products, to see how they change my life, and help the environment. There isn't any drawback, and if we all made a little change, it could really add up.

We just bought a foreclosure, and need to clean it! We'd love to try these green cleaners.

I would love to win some effective, green cleaning products. Aside from being gentler on the environment, we have a large macaw (adopted) with a very sensitive respiratory system. We try to keep the house well ventilated when using heavy duty cleaning products, but it would be nice not to have to worry about that at all.

We have our first baby due to arrive at the end of September and are making the switch to greener, cleaner beauty AND cleaning products. I've used some of Seventh Generation's products before, but none of the ones listed above. They look fantastic!

I would love to win either package, but I think I would benefit the most from the beauty products. I have a fair amount of green cleaning products already, but I haven't taken the time to track down and buy good eco-options for my beauty routine.

I've made a conscious effort to use less and be friendlier to the earth in 2009. Using a water bottle rather than buying bottled water, using canvas totes when shopping, and riding my bike to the store are a few of the ways that I have put that plan in action. I'd like to expand my earth-friendly habits to the products that I use and this would give me a great chance to try those products out.

My husband and I have (finally) bought a house after saving for 5 years to put the 20% down (no ARM-yeah!) We are both committed to starting a green revival in this older home and the green products would make a fantastic addition to our new attitude (plus help get rid of the decades o' nasty we found when we moved in ;)Thanks!

I never used your products.
I want to and i wish to.
