The following recipes span the globe and offer eaters of all preferences something to excite their taste buds. Where will your dinner take you tonight? 1. Chicken Tagine

You don't need a fancy pot to cook this Moroccan chicken tagine in your kitchen. After sautéing onions and garlic on your stovetop with an eclectic mix of herbs and spices, you'll add chicken and dried apricots. Put everything in the slow cooker and cook on high for three to four hours.

2. Sweet and Sour Chicken

Forget Chinese takeout and simmer this sweet and sour chicken at home. Place cubed chicken in your Crock-Pot and combine with a blend of broth and spices over low heat for five to seven hours. Then you'll add pineapple, bell pepper, onion, and a cornstarch mix that gets everything to the right texture.

3. Coconut Curry

This Indian coconut vegetable curry recipe makes a great meal on its own or can be used as filling for veggie samosas. You'll cook potatoes, bell peppers, and green peas in a thick sauce made from coconut cream and curry powder (plus many other spices). Then garnish with fresh cilantro before serving. I'd love to add lentils to this recipe for some extra nutrition. (See also: 35 Slow Cooker Recipes for Busy Vegetarians)

4. Pulled Beef Sandwiches

These African pulled beef sandwiches require few ingredients but are big on flavor. Chuck roast is the foundation that soaks in the cumin, red pepper, and allspice. Once you've cooked everything for several hours, you remove and shred using a fork. And don't forget to make the cool mint yogurt sauce for the side.

5. Mushroom Risotto

I've tried lots of Italian recipes in my slow cooker, but never anything like this mushroom risotto. Vegetarians can easily substitute vegetable broth for the chicken broth since the rest of the ingredients are free of meat. You'll first cook mushrooms, shallots, and garlic on your stove-top before transferring everything to the pot for just over two hours.

6. Stuffed Peppers

Let's move on to a simple Mexican dish: stuffed peppers in your Crock-Pot. You can modify this recipe to suit your dietary preferences by changing up the filling from carnivore to vegetarian. In other words, you can use ground beef or beans to fill your peppers. Don't forget garnishes either. The sour cream, avocado, and salsa give everything an irresistible finish.

7. Ale-Sauced Pork Ribs

Ah, German food — the meatiest of all. These ale-sauced pork ribs can be made with dark ale, stout, or even nonalcoholic beer. Whatever you use, you'll place the ribs in a plastic bag to mingle with the beer and spices overnight (or at least four hours). Then add the veggies to the pot and finish with the meat and sauce mix. Cook for four hours on high.

8. Boeuf Bourguignon

Or try making the classic French boeuf bourguignon in your slow cooker. Along with thick cut bacon and chuck roast, you'll pour in almost two cups of red wine (the author recommends pinot noir). This recipe starts on your stovetop but gets its flavor from a six to eight hour rest on low in the pot. Beef is done when it falls apart easily on your fork.

9. Red Curry

This Thai red curry recipe is rated with a difficulty level of, well, easy! If you've never cooked with red curry paste before, you can find it in the international foods aisle of most grocery stores. I love the addition of kabocha squash here, which tastes a lot like a sweet potato crossed with pumpkin.

10. Baked Beans

Fill yourself up at breakfast with British baked beans atop toast with a poached egg on the side. Skip canned beans and cook them in your Crock-Pot. The recipe calls for dried navy beans that you must rehydrate overnight. Use your pot for soaking them — that's what I do! The rest is just a mix of diced tomatoes, garlic, onions, and seasonings that mingle to perfection after eight hours on low.

11. Feijoada

Brazilian feijoada is a pork and bean stew served most often during celebrations. By using your slow cooker, you can enjoy it any night of the week. What's inside? Black beans, bacon, pork shoulder, short ribs, and ham hock for starters. The seasoning is mostly salt and pepper with a bit of vinegar for tang. Serve with hot rice and orange wedges.

12. Paella

Those of you who love Spanish food will flip for this Crock-Pot paella recipe recipe. To make, just cut your chicken into small cubes and then cook until golden with paprika, salt, and pepper. Add rice to the skillet for a few minutes before placing everything in your Crock-Pot for two hours on high.
