Ask the Readers: Do You Go to Sporting Events?

Editor's Note: Congratulations to Kelly, Jennifer, and Finance Advice for Young Professionals for winning this week's contest!

Most people are a fan of at least one sport or team. Whether it's your college football team or your favorite NBA team, chances are you watch your team play from time to time. You may even splurge and attend sporting events every once in awhile! However, the cost of attending games may deter you from buying tickets.

Do you go to sporting events? If so, how do you save on tickets? Do you use eBay? Craigslist? Ticketmaster? Or do you opt to stay in to watch the big game?

Tell us if you go to sporting events and we'll enter you in a drawing to win a $20 Amazon Gift Card!

We bought a partial share of season tickets to our local Triple-A baseball team (split with several other people at my husband's work). It was just enough games to be fun, but not so many that we got tired of it or felt like we were going "just to get our money's worth".

I love the Boston teams, so I'll ask friends to go in some tickets.

We enjoy going to sporting events, but don't like paying full price for tickets. Once a year we go to a NASCAR race and buy the tickets for our son's birthday. We plan way in advance and are able to get tickets for a very good price, usually a two for one deal. We also like watching our local semi pro baseball team play and find coupons in the paper, through email or at stores for discount tickets. We also go on nights when discounts and specials are offered. For pro basketball games (Go Spurs!), I have been lucky enough to win free tickets on radio stations at least once a season and/or have friends with season tickets who, very nicely, offer us their seats when they can't attend a game.

Love them! We just attended an MLS game yesterday, and are looking forward to another one. Wish I could afford NFL tickets.

I can't say the last time we went to a sporting event - other than high school games. It's too expensive, and quite often we prefer to watch at home where we can do our own "instant replay".
