Editor's Note: Congratulations to Lucy, Raina, and Lisa for winning this week's contest!
The holiday season is officially over, but celebrations will continue throughout the year. In fact, pretty much every day of the year honors one thing or another, whether it's a widely celebrated event like Valentine's Day or Memorial Day, or it's a quieter holiday like Arbor Day or a not-so-quiet International Talk Like a Pirate Day.
What is your favorite holiday across the seasons? How do you celebrate? What are other weird and wacky holidays that you enjoy?
Tell us about your holiday and we'll enter you in a drawing to win a $20 Amazon Gift Card!
We're doing three giveaways — here's how you can win!

Halloween
I'm partial to New Year's. I like it because it forces reflection. I write essays, so I reflect on my life a lot. As the year dwindles down, more people start to talk about what they did through the year and the ways different events or activities or relationships affected them. I live for these conversations. My friends and I have a big "Good Luck Meal" on New Year's Day, and I love the conversations we have about moving forward. Also, it's like a great big reset for your life, if you let it be. I mean, you can do a "reset" anytime, but I like the New Year one. It's for everyone.
My favorite Holiday is Christmas. It is so much fun decorating the tree with the family and making cookies and buying gifts. I love it all!
Thanksgiving is my favorite because it's about gratitude.
I like the Christmas and New Years season best.
That's easy. It's Thanksgiving. Food, Family, Friends, and Football (die hard Cowboys fan). What more could you ask for?
My favorite holiday above all is Christmas. Has been so ever since childhood. Not so much for the gifts but the family and happiness that the season tries so much to give. My next favorite is is tie between Halloween and Thanksgiving. Halloween is fun and Thanksgiving is needed to give thanks and it begins the Christmas Holiday. New Year's Day is more sobering. One needs to plan for the year and prepare. In the summer the Fourth of July I spend with friends. In the Spring, Easter, which gives new birth to the land. I have no weird holidays but these are my fondest.
My favorite holiday is Christmas. I celebrate with my family. We have a nice dinner and exchange gifts
As much as I love Christmas, I have to go with Halloween being my all fave Holiday. I enjoy sitting back and watching all the scary movies on tv, visiting haunted houses, and watching all the kids have fun when trick-or-treating.
My favorite holiday is Christmas. It's a busy time of the year, but I can't help but love the music, the family time, and celebrating the Savior's birth!
My favorite holiday hands-down is Halloween! I love dressing up even though I'm an adult. There's just something so exciting about it!
Thanksgiving is my favorite
I love Thanksgiving because it is such a fun holiday that means good times are to come in the next month or so. I also like much of the food and time spent with family. I love Talk Like a Pirate Day since it is so goofy and fun and some people really get into the spirit of it as well.
My favorite holiday is Thanksgiving. I love the message around it (i.e., being thankful and grateful), and it seems a lot less stressful than Christmas!
I know the holiday season can be stressful, but my favorite time of year is by far Christmas. Mostly because I get to spend more time with family that lives further away and because of the extra activities my little ones like to do.
My favorite holiday is one we created 3 years ago. It's celebrated each August on a day that works for us and is our official Family Fun Day. We fill an entire day with different-than-usual activities and family time. We have done city passes and trips to a family fun center and movies. The point of the day is to have a whole day together where we're having fun with each other. Sometimes we even get each other little souvenirs while we're at it and exchange those in the evening.
Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday because of the great food and the 4 day weekend. I also love every other holiday including Christmas and Independence Day as well as wacky holidays like National Margarita Day.
I'd have to say that May the Fourth is one of our favorite holidays (Star Wars Day!). We have a Star Wars themed dinner for which we dress up and it's just a fun way to celebrate our family uniqueness! (Also, Vanilla Day has been a popular one around here, usually held in March, where we have something vanilla with each meal or snack. It's the little things that make us who we are!)
My favorite holiday is Halloween. I love to dress up and see all the other costumes and decorations. I like spooky fun.
Definitely Christmas. Save every month to plan for it each year, love spending without worry and giving great gifts!
Fourth of July! Warm weather, BBQ & fire works
Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. Family, food and football. No stress
I like Christmas
I always like Thanksgiving.
Halloween - definitely! It's such fun for the kiddos and adults and is relatively low key. Not a lot of stress involved, unless it's finding the perfect costume!
thanksgiving
My favorite holiday is Thanksgiving. You get to eat good food, visit the rest of the family and it's starting to get cooler down here (in the South).
Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday above all the others. I host the family dinner at my house each year. It's a long weekend filled with good eats and good times.
Oh I have to say Christmas for sure! I love all the Christmas lights and snow! Such a beautiful time of year! And Christmas cookies are always the BEST! A fun one I love to celebrate...July 7th....Chocolate day! YUMMY!
One of my favorites would be christmas because it's a festive time with the decorations and christmas traditions
I like Valentine's Day! With the busyness of day to day life, it's a good reminder for me to stop and appreciate my loved ones.
I like Christmas best. The decorations, food and gifts are a lot of of work but it is fun as well.
I like the Thanksgiving through New Year's Day holidays best...to me, they all seem to go together. My husband and I celebrate them with any of our adult children who are able to be home with us. I do like to celebrate Pi Day and some of the other obscure holidays.
My favorite holiday is Christmas because I get to see my family and I love decorating and giving gifts.
independence day
I like the concept of New Year's Eve and Day: a celebration of the past year, and the anticipation of the one to come. That "fresh start" feeling is nice even though I rarely stick to any resolutions. But I also enjoy Halloween (for the scary movies and creepy decorations), Easter (for the candy), and Labor Day (usually the best weather holiday and near my anniversary!).
christmas
My favorite is Christmas. I love the decorations and lights, gift giving, and spending time with friends and family.
I love Festivus and the airing of grievances!
Thanksgiving is my favorite - you don't have to worry about gifts but you can enjoy a nice meal and appreciate family and friends.
Christmas is still my favorite holiday, with Easter following close behind. Of course, I've always been partial to St. Patrick's Day, too, since it's my birthday!
Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday as it is a very meaningful holiday and got to love the spirit of it !!
Hands down the winner for me is Thanksgiving. It is a time of reflection upon all of the things to be thankful for such as health, family, and abundance. Every year I am thankful that my life is not a struggle. I have ample housing, food, clothing, finances, and good fortune. It is one of the few holidays that hasn't been perverted through monetization (sans Black Friday) and consumerism per se. It is a time of extended family visits and not typically an eat and run event. This year I spent almost 9 hours at my brother in law's house lounging, eating, watching tv, playing games, and generally enjoying my family company.
Christmas is my favorite. It's magical in so many ways!!
Halloween is a fun holiday - getting to wear a costume, having fun with the kids Tick or Treating.
Christmas is my favorite when my family actually comes together (there have been a couple years lately that everyone has "done their own thing"). All the decorations are fun, as is the gift-giving.
My favorite holiday since childhood is Halloween. I loved trick-or-treating with friends after dark. I got to dress up and pretend to be someone/something else and got rewarded with candy! What's not to like?
I think I like Memorial Day the best. My birthday is in late May, too, so I often get a 3 day weekend to celebrate. I also love that it feels like the unofficial start of summer.
My favorite is Christmas. I love that everyone is just a little bit kinder to one another.
Día de los Muertos! Such an incredible way to celebrate life and honored dead loved ones
Halloween! I love seeing the clever costumes people come up with.
My favorite holiday is Christmas and Halloween-it's a tie!
My favorite is Christmas. We have grandchildren now to buy gifts for and love baking and cooking for the holiday.
My favorite holiday is Christmas!
New Years Eve is my favorite holiday. After a busy Thanksgiving and Christmas, we stay home and relax on NYE.
Although I love Christmas and Thanksgiving, I think my favorite holiday is kind of a 'random' one - 4th of July! It's so nice to have a long weekend in the summer - plus some bbq, fireworks, ice cream, and sunny weather.
4th of July
I really like Thanksgiving. Making good food and spending time with my family.
I like Presidents Day in the early part of the year because I usually get it off when no one else does and its a good time to trim trees and get some cold weather yard work done to prepare for spring. I love Halloween in the fall and I can't quite put my finger on it, it has something to do with when I was a kid and the way it connects neighborhood through trick or treating. Of course, Christmas in the winter is a favorite because of all of the traditions.
I have always loved Halloween. I like to decorate my windows and porch and it is fun to see the kids in their costumes.
My favorite holiday is Christmas
Christmas all the way!!! It's such a magical tjme of year.
I love Thanksgiving. I like that it's about food and being together, not buying things. And I love leftovers!
My favorite holiday is Christmas.
I love Halloween. it's so fun to get dressed up and dress your kids up and just have a day celebrating being someone else and candy!
I love Christmas!
