Notes: Every card shown has a $0 annual fee. Offer units follow issuer terminology; billing cycles do not necessarily equal calendar months. Variable APRs depend on creditworthiness and may change with the U.S. Prime Rate.
Excluded discontinued card: U.S. Bank lists the older Business Platinum Card as no longer accepting applications.
Which card has the lowest starting ongoing APR after the introductory period?
The Bank of America® Platinum Plus® Mastercard® Business card has the lowest advertised starting ongoing purchase APR in this comparison at 14.74%. That is 1.50 percentage points below the U.S. Bank Business Shield Card’s 16.24% starting rate. It is the only card in the comparison that ranks first for both public online promotional length and advertised starting ongoing APR.
Approval at the lowest rate is not guaranteed. Assigned APRs depend on creditworthiness, and some competing cards advertise lower maximum APRs.
How we selected the cards
We reviewed publicly advertised small-business credit cards from American Express, Bank of America, Capital One, Chase, Citi, U.S. Bank and Wells Fargo. To qualify for the table, a card had to have a $0 annual fee and offer at least 12 months or billing cycles of 0% introductory APR on purchases.
We excluded discontinued cards, targeted offers, existing-customer offers, co-branded cards and cards from local banks, credit unions or financial-institution partners whose terms vary by institution. Cards are sorted first by the length of the public online purchase offer, then by the length of any publicly advertised branch-only offer and then by issuer name.
Capital One’s longest public online 0% purchase APR offer lasted nine months, below the 12-month cutoff. (Capital One) We found no Citi business card that advertised a qualifying 0% purchase APR. (Citi/AAdvantage Business; Costco Business)
What payment clears a $5,000–$50,000 purchase balance during a 15-cycle 0% APR offer?
Using the Bank of America® Platinum Plus® Mastercard® Business card’s 15-cycle purchase offer, Wise Bread calculates payoff targets from $333.34 per billing cycle on a $5,000 balance to $3,333.34 on a $50,000 balance, assuming all 15 cycles remain. Those targets are 20% lower than 12-cycle targets.
12-cycle versus 15-cycle 0% APR payoff targets
Wise Bread calculation: Starting purchase balance ÷ promotional billing cycles remaining, rounded up to the nearest cent.
| Starting purchase balance | Target payment with 12-cycle 0% APR | Target payment with 15-cycle 0% APR | Lower target payment with 15 cycles |
|---|---|---|---|
| $5,000 | $416.67 | $333.34 | $83.33 |
| $10,000 | $833.34 | $666.67 | $166.67 |
| $25,000 | $2,083.34 | $1,666.67 | $416.67 |
| $50,000 | $4,166.67 | $3,333.34 | $833.33 |
These are payoff targets, not statement minimums. They assume the full balance posts when the promotion begins, no additional purchases or fees, and payments rounded up to the nearest cent; the final payment may be lower. For later purchases, divide by the promotional cycles remaining. The examples do not imply approval for a particular credit limit.
Frequently asked questions about long 0% introductory APR business card offers
Does every purchase receive the full 15 billing cycles at 0% APR?
No. The 15-cycle period begins when the account is opened, so a purchase made in the fifth billing cycle has fewer 0% APR cycles remaining.
Does a 15-billing-cycle 0% introductory APR offer last 15 months?
Not necessarily. Billing cycles are statement periods and may not align exactly with calendar months; use the promotional expiration date in the account disclosure or statement.
What happens if a 0% introductory APR balance remains after the promotional period?
Any unpaid balance begins accruing interest at the regular variable purchase APR after the introductory period. A standard 0% introductory APR generally does not charge interest retroactively; the regular APR applies going forward, subject to the card agreement.
Does the Bank of America® Platinum Plus® Mastercard® Business card offer 0% introductory APR on balance transfers?
No introductory balance-transfer APR is advertised. The 15-cycle promotion applies to purchases; balance transfers use the rates and fees in the current terms.
Is the U.S. Bank Business Shield™ Visa® Card’s 18-billing-cycle 0% APR offer available online?
No. Online applicants receive 12 billing cycles; the 18-cycle offer on purchases and balance transfers requires a branch application. U.S. Bank’s branch network spans 26 states, leaving the Bank of America® Platinum Plus® Mastercard® Business card with the longest public online purchase offer in this review.
Is the U.S. Bank Business Platinum Card still accepting applications?
No. U.S. Bank says the older Business Platinum Card is no longer accepting applications. It should not be listed as a currently available 18-billing-cycle business credit card. The U.S. Bank card included in this comparison is the Business Shield™ Visa® Card, which has different online and in-branch terms.
Which card is best for financing a major purchase online?
For an online applicant financing a new purchase, the Bank of America® Platinum Plus® Mastercard® Business card is the strongest option in this comparison: 15 billing cycles at 0% introductory APR on purchases, a $0 annual fee and the lowest advertised starting ongoing APR.
The U.S. Bank Business Shield Card is the narrower exception for applicants who can apply in a branch and need 18 billing cycles or an introductory balance-transfer offer.
