Simple, straightforward, and rewarding credit cards are hard to find. Some credit card useres don't mind having to keep track of the various bonus categories and knowing exactly which card to use for each type of purchase. But there's something to be said about foregoing the very highest rewards possible, for one card that you can use for any purchase, and get cash back on.

The Barclaycard CashForward™ World Mastercard® is the newest member to the Barclays family, and joins the ranks among the best cash back credit cards. Here is why you should consider it. (See also: Best Cash Rewards Credit Cards)

Why We Like This Card

  • $200 bonus offer
  • 5% redemption bonus

How This Card Works

Earn unlimited 1.5% cash back on every purchase you make with this card. There are no categories, no limits, and your cash rewards do not expire (as long as your account is in good standing). Not only that, but you'll get a 5% cash rewards redemption bonus to use toward your next redemption. This means that if you redeem $300 cash rewards, you will earn $15 cash rewards bonus to use toward your next redemption.

There are multiple ways for you to redeem your cash back rewards. You redeem them as an ACH deposit into a US checking or savings account, statement credit, or gift cards. Redemptions start at $50.

Bonus offer: New cardmembers can earn $200 cash rewards bonus after they spend $1,000 in purchases in the first 90 days after account opening.

Other Benefits

Travel benefits. Travel with peace of mind, since trip cancellation and interruption insurance, baggage delay insurance, travel accident insurance, and an auto rental collision damage waiver on their trips is included. Cardholders also have access to global assistance services that provide 24/7 customer service.

Shopping benefits. This card comes with a number of helpful shopping benefits, including extended warranty, purchase protection from damage or theft, and return protection.

Concierge benefits. Get help with travel and restaurant reservations, gift arrangements, business services, and much more.

Free FICO score. Receive free online access to your FICO credit score, which can prove very helpful for keeping a close eye on your credit. You can also opt to receive notifications whenever your credit score changes.

Pros

Nice bonus offer. The $200 sign-up bonus is nice. Not all cards offer a cash sign up bonus, especially ones with no annual fees. (See also: Best Credit Cards that Offer Bonus Cash for Sign-Up)

Cash back on every purchase. While other cash back cards might offer a higher cash back reward, most of them only offer it in certain categories. If you don't make a lot of purchases in a few specific categories, or you just don't want to bother with having different cards for different purchases, a flat rate cash back on all purchases is valuable.

Redemption bonus. The most exciting feature of this card is its exclusive 5% cash rewards redemption bonus. Although the bonus can only be applied on future redemptions of your cash rewards, it is still a very nice bonus to receive considering that all you have to do is redeem your cash rewards in order to reap the benefits.

Free FICO score. These days it's more important than ever to keep an eye on your credit score, for fraud as well as to monitor your own shopping habits to keep track of how they affect your credit. (See also: Best Credit Cards that Offer Free Credit Scores)

Great benefits. The card includes a nice list of travel and shopping benefits that come standard with World Mastercards.

Cons

No bonuses for large recurring expenses. If you're looking to maximize cash back in specific categories, there are other cards better for those purchases. (For example, there are credit cards for grocery purchases, cards for dining, and cards for gas.)

Foreign transaction fee. If you make purchases abroad, the foreign transaction fees can add up. (See also: Best Credit Cards with No Foreign Transaction Fees)

Who This Card Is Best For

The Barclaycard CashForward World Mastercard is best for those looking for a simple cash back credit card that offers unlimited cash rewards with no category restrictions. The sign up bonus and 5% redemption bonus add additional value and raises this card to be among the best cash back credit cards available today.
